Here I have inserted ESRI shape files into AutoCAD Map 3D along with a USGS Quadrangle map. The Civil Point objects shown here mask the area behind the text allowing for better visibility. When I select the parcel object (yellow highlight) the corresponding data auto-scrolls and is highlighted in blue in the Data Table. I can also search for data in the filter box and by tagging the line in the Data Table, the parcel will auto zoom to the corresponding parcel object.

At the Autodesk Design Gallery the exhibit projects show all products used in the design, not just Autodesk.

I can extract geospatial info from the map and navigate via the Data Table fly-out. I control the visibility and properties of the data through the Legend Toolspace on the left pane.

Autodesk sucks donkey balls.

Or to be more precise, they're EVIL. And irresponsible. Not good for a company that owns a product that has a monopoly in a ridiculously lucrative high-end market-space (cad). We're gonna have to buy multiple new computers to continue being productive when Civil3d replaces land desktop.

For those that have a clue what I'm ranting about: I'm not against progress. Far from it. Autodesk doesn't optimize though. Every year they release a program that has bloated to include more features and more eye-candy, somehow seemingly exponentially increasing the system requirements every year (for the same things we did years ago). Projects get bigger. Drawings get bigger. The program gets bigger. Of course computers have to get better and faster... duh. But there appears to not be any optimization of the program. It just keeps running slower and slower every year. Yes, I may just be talking out my ass (I don't use it anymore) but as of this year, in my eyes Autodesk has gone from sucky to Evil.

Anyway. I don't even care about all this anymore. Not my money. From a moral standpoint though .. I just can't help but take notice at how irresponsible they are with their Autocad monopoly.

Here I have exported to Google Earth from Civil 3D the proposed photogrammetric aerial panel locations along with the published Lat-Lon locations of NGS bechmarks and the TxDOT Satellite Stations set by my company. This has proven very useful in aiding my planning and coordination with others.

SolidWorks to Civil 3D Exporter/Converter is a simple data exchange plug-in/add-on tool which creates native Civil 3D Blocks (.dwg) from SolidWorks parts (.sldprt) and assemblies (.sldasm).
