I love a medieval themed folk rock festival, me. But Tapestry isn't just the best medieval themed festival about, it's actually the best festival there is. All the others are pretty lame, tbh. And a festival without Circulus just isn't worth bothering with, as it's invariably going to be some sort of ghastly joyless corporate charade. I mean, imagine being the sort of person who doesn't have fun looning about out of their mind on mead, to the sound of the electric lute. How ridiculous.
Dinosaurs may be extinct from the face of the planet, but they are alive and well in our imaginations. -- Steve Miller, Freaks!
I contend dinosaurs are still living among us in the many creatures called reptiles. This is a photo of my close encounter with a living dinosaur.
Prehensile-tailed Skink (Corucia zebrata) at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, New York. I took this photo with the Nikon 105mm VR Micro (macro) lens I rented last weekend.
Prehensile-tailed Skinks are completely herbivorous (so don't worry about those teeth), eating many different fruits and vegetables. It is one of the few species of reptile known to function within a social group or circulus. Both male and female specimens are known to be territorial and often hostile towards members not a part of their family group. (Source: Wikipedia)

From earlier in the month, at Portland Design Works' super fun (ware)housewarming party. Lots of folks rode the circulus, but some of them rode it more than others. Jamie had this ecstatic grin on his face every time I saw him go around.

If it weren't for Circulus it is quite possible that I would never have discovered the joys of dressing in seventies quasi-medieval regalia and dancing about the countryside. And without Michael in particular I would probably have had a lot less fun.

Friday opened the River Sculpture Festival at the French Broad Park off of Amboy Road and like last year there are some fantastic sculptures and constructions in the park.
