Part of a series of iPhone ScanCamera slit-scans of the carnival amusement thrill ride called the Zipper. Here the slit was moving Right to Left. The asymmetry of the Zipper (versus for example the circular symmetry of the FerrisWheel ) yields a much greater variety of scan outcomes and therefore is more fun to slit-scan photograph. In honor of #cincodemayo, which commemorates the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla and in the U.S. celebrates Mexican-American culture, we are highlighting “La Guadalupana Mexicana Deli Grocery” in Brooklyn. We absolutely love its #handpainted signage, which was done in the colors of the Mexican flag 🇲🇽.

She held the camera tight, balancing its weight against the wind, snaping frame after frame of visions, thinking if only she could write one cumulative sentence, images in trees, words stuck in throats like roasted squirrel bones, the cello played, the car drove on. Who would have thought we could have such a romantic anniversary this far from Mexico?
My Cinco de Mayo cookies were the 2nd time I ever made cookies! these were all done back in 2007, before I moved from CA to CO. I did them for my work's annual party. One thing I really miss from my old job is the party's! LOL
Actually the featured calendar art for 3 May, but I held back posting this until Mexico’s National Day to celebrate the art of Diego Rivera (1886-1957). This 1942 painting is titled The Flower Seller.
After all, it is an American holiday.
