The Church was built in 1799 on the former Caminho dos Pinheiros, today Rua da Consolação, with the help of alms from devotees to Our Lady of Consolation and with the endorsement of the diocesan bishop Mateus de Abreu Pereira were able to begin its construction, with the technique of taipa, quite common at the time. The oldest record of its construction is a document transcribed by Jacinto Ribeiro, in which it attributes the idealization of the temple to the faithful Luiz da Silva and his brothers. Located in a boggy and marshy region there is another document proving the Church's ancient existence: on November 23, 1803, an office was registered that showed the need for drinking water for the residents of the neighborhood "Nossa Senhora da Consolação". In view of the custom of baptizing the district with religious names, mainly related to sanctuaries, the Church, besides already existing, corresponded to an important piece for the functioning of the region. And, in the year 1810, a plant in the city of São Paulo contained the chapel.

This is the church of Nesseby. Nesseby is a small town in the far northeast of Norway. We travled there last January (2020) coming from the finnish border and passing this small town with the church just besides the fjord. That day we had no time to drive to the church but we swear to stop there when leaving the area of Varanger.

When we left the area of Varanger we started early in the morning and when we arrived at Nesseby it was completely dark (it was the arctic night) So I used my Tripod to shoot this photo and tried several adjustments. The only light was this from the Church itself. It was cold, and snow started to fall like hell and we were in a hurry to leave because we wanted to go to the northcape this day and this are several hundreds of kilometer within new snow.

Currently located just outside the boundaries of Snæfellsjökull National Park, the town of Hellnar is the largest of the fishing villages on the south side of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in Iceland. It has been that way for centuries. A church was first built at this site in the village in 1833. The church in the photo was constructed in 1945.

Holy Hill is located in southeast Wisconsin, on the highest elevation in this part of the state. Situated on 435 acres of rural countryside.

Just want to mention that this is not an actual church anymore. It's an empty structure.

Info from the Internet:

The Old Stone Church was built in the early 1890s to replace the Baptist church which had been lost in a fire. Hardly 10 years later, it had to be abandoned for the reservoir. Because it was built of stone and was clearly going to be a scenic attraction, the commonwealth was persuaded by townsfolk to let it remain. It stands alone on a point of land by the side of the water as a reminder of what was lost to the reservoir.

The Old Stone Church Site is open to the public and can be visited from 1 hour before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset. It is located on Beaman Street.

NOTE:

The Church is managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.

A moment in time: An auspicious spiritual structure beneath a royal twilight sky, bathed in the glow of a divine sunset.

Those two trees were filled with delightfully singing birds all competing with the chorus of crickets in the shadows.

And then the stars all woke up.
