Chukchansi Park is a city-owned baseball stadium located in Fresno, California. It was originally built and named Grizzlies Stadium as the home for the Pacific Coast League Fresno Grizzlies and the Fresno Fuego minor league soccer club.
After management failures, Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino announced it would be the premier corporate sponsor for Grizzlies Stadium, in a 15 year, $16 million deal. The first game was May 1, 2002. Located in downtown Fresno, it is to be an anchor in the rehabilitation of the area, as other commercial development is planned in the Central Business District Loop.
The stadium was designed by HOK Sport + Venue + Event, the firm responsible for many of today's sports stadiums like Oriole Park at Camden Yards, PETCO Park and Comerica Park.
The $46 million dollar facility seats 12,500, with field dimensions of 324 (LF), 402 (CF), 335 (RF).
In addition to baseball, the stadium is used for soccer, musical concerts, motorcycle supercross events and high school football.

The City of Fresno is notorious for a lot of things, many of which are undeserved. However, one of the worst atrocities committed by or in this city is the tearing down of many old, historic buildings in the 60s and 70s. Thankfully some of the old buildings remain and Fresno boasts a nice collection of 1920s era tall buildings/skyscrapers. Seen here are the Bank of Italy, the Security Bank Building and the old JC Penny's Building. Fresno's (relatively) new AAA baseball park is also seen.

It was just beginning to rain when I took this photo of the new Fresno Grizzlies baseball stadium, built in 2002. There was a band playing live just inside the stadium gates as people were entering the facility to see the Grizzlies play. A few minutes later the sky let loose with a heavy downpour. The band packed up and ran for cover. I was standing under an awning of the building across the street as I took this picture. I stayed there for awhile trying to avoid getting wet. Later that night I was watching the local news on TV and they said that after the fans were seated in the stadium, they canceled the game due to rain. It was supposed to be the opening night of the season. I was happy, though, because I got the photo that I wanted.

Old and new buildings mix together in downtown Fresno. The building on the right was built in 1903 while the Grizzlies baseball stadium on the left was built in 2002.
UPDATE, February, 2009: The produce building has been renovated and is now the headquarters for the Fresno Fire Dept.
Looking west from the top of the spiral parking structure in downtown Fresno on a very cloudy day with the Grizzlies baseball stadium in the foreground. You can see just a little bit of sunlight on the horizon and just barely visible is the Diablo mountain range, 75 miles in the distance in San Benito County. Notice the turkey vulture high in the sky.
