Sounds of Church Bells Tolling in Christmas Day

I like the sound of the church bells very much...

Christmas ended yesterday here in Spain. I hope your Christmas has been wonderful!

Ayer finalizó la Navidad aquí en España. Espero que estas fiestas hayan sido muy buenas para todos!

I did not upload this photo to get faves :) Just wanted to share

a page of one of my favourites books, "The Christmas Tree" by Barbara Segall. The book is a tribute to the Christmas tree, its history and traditions. It's always a magical moment, when the time comes to decorate the tree.

The first person to bring a Christmas Tree into a house, in the way we know it today, may have been the 16th century German preacher Martin Luther. Therefore - O Tannenbaum - Nana Mouskouri

For the FFF+ Freestyle on the Fifth.

The theme - Christmas Magic was chosen by Jesse ( www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/with/50680833142/ )

Christmas is a wonderful time of year. We haven't yet put our tree up, planning to do that tomorrow. This is a peek into the decorations box.

This month the theme was 'Christmas Magic' chosen by Jesse. This is my contribution to the magic that only happens once a year in December.

All these Christmas baubles, and more besides, were hand beaded with sequins and pins by me across the course of this year. I have a Christmas tradition. I bead Christmas baubles for a select group of friends every year.

Each bauble is 15 centimetres in diameter and contain hundreds of sequins, varying in number depending upon the complexity of the pattern and the type of sequins I use. Depending upon the colour of the sequin, I will use either a gold or a silver pin to attach it to the bauble.

These baubles are smaller than some others I do, however because they can have complex patterns which starts from the outside and are worked inwawards in ever decreasing circles, each bauble takes approximately 1 to 2 1/2 hours per side. I’ll let you work out how many hours, days or weeks there are here.

The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 23rd of December is "Christmas Collage", and as I seldom get to showcase all my baubles together, I thought they would make the ideal choice for this week. I hope you like my choice for the theme, and that it makes you smile!

As this is the last "Smile on Saturday" before Christmas, I should just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the group a very happy Festive Season. May it be filled with happiness and joy for you all.

This month's FOTF theme of 'Christmas Magic' was chosen by Jesse.

For me, Christmas is always about the sea and time spent by it, with those I love the most.

Last Christmas my very dear friend Jesse surprised me, with not just one of his special and very beautiful handmade baubles. but an entire beautiful box full . . . I was over the moon and speechless.

I felt so incredibly lucky to have received such a special and thoughtful gift from such a special friend, and I had an absolute ball photographing them by the sea too.

This is the last FOTF . . . the new monthly challenge for Snap Happy is now live on the group page in the discussion thread which can be found here: 5 January Snap Happy theme.

This year, perhaps more so than others, I have had the time to pursue one of my hobbies which brings me great joy every Christmas.

These baubles are smaller than some others I do, however because they can have complex patterns which starts from the inside and are worked outwards in ever larger circles, each bauble takes approximately 1 to 2 1/2 hours per side. I’ll let you work out how many hours, days or weeks there are here.

It is however, a labour of love which I do to pass the time throughout the year.

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a monthly challenge called “Freestyle On The Fifth”. A different theme chosen by a member of the group each month, and the image is to be posted on the 5th of the month.

This month the theme, “Christmas magic” was chosen me.

I thought a presentation of my handmade Christmas baubles suited the theme very well.

Some days ago a friend asked me if i had time for another lightpainting. The only thing i knew, they handcrafted a dress of evergreens. As i arrived, i scouted the location, an old brickyard.

With temperatures about zero degree, everything should go fast so our model hadn´t freeze so much ! :-)

Cooperation with Heiko Potthoff and Model Nicole Waller.

Wish you all a merry christmas time and everything fine in the new year !

Radio City Music Hall is a entertainment venue which was built in 1932 within Rockefeller Center, in New York. Nicknamed the Showplace of the Nation, it is the headquarters for the famous Rockettes, the precision dance company.

"And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more."

Sometimes the Christmas season can be a blur...a lot to do and see and people to visit and travel and gifts and food and...yeah, I think you all understand! However, it doesn't have to be all bad...remember the reason for Christmas and the thing that we are celebrating and all the blurriness just comes into focus so much better. Merry Christmas to all my family, friends, and everyone who sees this...may this time of year be focused on all the things that bring you joy and happiness!!

So you think your Christmas Eve is stressful? Spare a thought for our mate Nick. While you’re wrestling with tangled fairy lights, he’s got to visit every nice child in the world, steer a sleigh pulled by reindeer with attitude, and deal with elves who’d rather test the toys than pack them. And then there’s Martha — Mrs. Claus—who’s as caring as she is relentless with her annual lecture.

“Don’t sleigh over the speed limit, Nick! Remember what happened in 2015?” “Wear your gloves this time—you’re not frostbite-proof!”

“For goodness' sake, watch out for Elon's Starlink satellites. You’re not dodging one again this year!” “You don’t need to drink every beer someone leaves out! And maybe skip a few chocolates—remember what the doctor said about your waistline? Chimneys aren’t exactly getting bigger, you know.”

“And that beard! If it catches fire in a chimney, don’t come crying to me!” “Oh, and Nick... there’s no shame in using GPS. Last year’s Paris debacle was not a good look.”

Do you have any Christmas traditions? In our house, we’re Lego nerds through and through. Every year on December 1st, we kick off our annual assembly of the four Christmas-themed Lego sets we own—each boasting over 1,000 pieces. It’s a group effort, with whoever happens to be around joining in, fueled by a glass of red wine, Spotify Christmas carols, and a spirited debate over the best way to sort the pieces. (I’m firmly in the “sort by style, not color” camp by the way)

Of course, there’s the inevitable moments “There’s no red piece that’s a double with four blocks and a slant on one side!” Yet somehow, my wife always finds it — usually in a spot I *just checked*. I’m convinced she hides them for fun.

After a week of meticulous building, we finally finish one set... only to discover an alarming number of leftover pieces. Why do I have five green tree branch when I desperately need an orange Christmas light? By that point, it doesn’t really matter though.

Then there’s our grandson. When he arrives, the intricate builds we’ve painstakingly constructed are gleefully demolished in search of *that one perfect block* he absolutely must have. That’s the best part of it all — the chaos, the laughter, the tradition. It’s not about getting it to look like the picture on the box (it never does anyway). It’s about the journey, the memories, and the fun of doing it together.

Wishing you a merry Christmas, I hope you enjoy whatever you are up to !

Now that all the hustle and bustle is past, just settle in for a winter nap...and what better place than in front of a beautiful fire with a few remaining Christmas adornments. Merry Christmas friends...and a Happy New Year!

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a monthly challenge called “Freestyle On The Fifth”. A different theme chosen by a member of the group each month, and the image is to be posted on the 5th of the month.

This month the theme, “Christmas magic” was chosen me.

I love Christmas and all that it entails, including baking. I bake fruit mince pies and shortbreads for friends every year, and I always say that I add a spoonful of love into each batch. How could I fail to do so using these gorgeous Christmas gingerbread men spoons? I was given these as a Christmas gift last year from a very dear friend who knows how much I enjoy both Christmas and baking. They never fail to make me smile, and they bring me their own special Christmas magic when I bring them out to use or to display at Christmas.
