The Raleigh Chopper is a children's bicycle, a wheelie bike, manufactured and marketed in the 1970s by the Raleigh Bicycle Company of Nottingham, England. Its unique design became a cultural icon and is fondly remembered by many who grew up in that period. The design was influenced by dragsters, motorbikes, beach buggys, and even chariots, as can be seen on the centre page of the 1969 Raleigh US catalog.

This is a plush bicycle made by Aymeric (my other half) and myself for the
"Bicycle Arts Festival" in Vancouver
It will be displayed with other bicycle related artworks in the art show "Holy Chromoly"

Aymeric built the chopper frame from PVC piping and it was covered by me using batting, sparkle vinyl and fleece.
It is based on the Raleigh chopper that my brother used to have and passed on to me when we were kids.
1984 Moulton AM, 1964 Moulton Standard, 1970s Raleigh Chopper and (foreground) Sinclair C5. '84 'spaceframe' Moulton has leading arm front suspension, rubber compression rear. '64 Mouton has telescopic coil/rubber front suspension, ingenius compression/shear rear rubber spring, 16" wheels. Both Moultons can be fitted with a front carrier with low centre of gravity and independent of front wheel.
