Choo-choo - Happy Fence Friday!
A quaint little farm scene to past the weekend - hope yours is great!

This is not the first time we've shown these old train tracks, but they can make for fun photos. It's where the Prescott-Russell Trail Link begins in Ottawa, ON. The old tracks were torn up in the mid sixties to make the 95km recreational Trail, though this first section of 25km was not officially opened as part of it until 2008.

Not the famous Glenfinnan viaduct i'm afraid, this wee one's on the shores of Loch Nan Uamh / Glen Mama, South Morar.
Capturing the train was a real bonus as i just went down to photograph the viaduct !
Mind you, i did hear it coming :)
While we were out on Sunday we visited Habberley Valley Nature Reserve & Trimpley Reservoir......if you approach Trimpley off the Bridgnorth rd you have to walk through the woodlands and cross the Severn Valley Railway .When we got to the railway i heard the "Choo Choo" of one of the trains on it way up to Bridgnorth ,we waited a few moments and around the bend it came .......just got to love steam.....Trimpley Reservoir nr Bewdley ,Worcestershire ,England
The Jacobite (Hogwarts Express) was seriously late departing Fort William, absolutely packed with adults wearing capes and waving wands as it speeds under Ben Nevis and thunders over the Lochy railway bridge on its way to Glenfinnan and Mallaig
SPOILER ALERT: Save your money and go on the ScotRail diesel service that takes exactly the same route a few minutes earlier. Greatest railway journey in the world?, my rse. You get to see little through dirty rain streaked windows except railside vegetation and branches and the occasional dead deer
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Now that it's over, we can offically get into the Christmas mood! :P
Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend ahead everyone!

Choo- choo was feeling a little choked so I gave him some room... I learned that subjects in motion need space to move into so I came up with this version with a little collaging and cloning.

After more# than a month overseas, I came back this weekend and went out yesterday to find an elusive Virginia rail. No choo choo for me but found this Sora in clear sight.
Waiting for a train inside the New Haven Metro North Station. Permanent display of miniature trains.
You should hear the music of the beautiful steam whistle. The engineers play them like virtuosos! This is a Shay locomotive. You might want to google it. I made this image in Cass, West Virginia in mid-May. These trains were used for logging in the Appalachians and, fully loaded, can handle grades of up to 11%.
Logging stopped around 1960 when all the large trees had been harvested. In 56 years, the forests have recovered beautifully, and the locals use these trains for tourism now.
I want to dedicate this photo to my Flickr friend Theresa, who makes the best train spotting photos in the world!
I shot some of these cabooses about a year ago.(found in Minnesota) - since then some were moved - I liked them for their wobbly look - toy like in their appeal.
Yes, I know, tractors don't "choo-choo" but I always wanted to use that as a title :o)
We found this little gem parked in front of a heavily decorated house and while all the guys were taking pictures of the things on the other side of the street (landscape and such) we girls couldn't help but take pictures of this scene.
I had to run for this shot, was walking in New Westminster, heard the train hoot, turned back and ran to the tracks, just a short one though, two engines and two cars.

We're here reporting from the old railroad tracks at the start of the Prescott-Russell Trail in Ottawa, Ontario. (They're still here.)
These rails are all that's left of the line that they tore up in the mid sixties to make the Trail.
