Chingri Bharta. River shrimps. Sautéd and coarsely mashed. A throw of finely chopped onions. A handful of wicked chillies. A glug of mustard oil. And food heaven for sure !!
Chingri Barfi Curry. Coarsely ground prawns steamed in a tiffin-box. Lovingly cut into diamonds. Fried to a sinful golden and then stewed in a spice-scented coconut milk gravy. Yet another gem from thakumar rannar khata.

This is Puri. Particularly this stretch of the beach is called Sargadwar or Gateway to Haven ! For generations Puri has remained the most popular destination of Bengali Babu (when they need a short or a very long vacation) . Lord Jagannath (if not more at least ) as Popular in Bengal as in Orissa.
Bengalies spend most part of the day in this part of Puri , very early morning you will find them searching for "one Sun rise shot " , after some time when the Boats will come back laden with fish , they will start searching for " Fresh Pomfret , Pabda or Chingri Maach " aake bare Joler Dorey ! Then they will come out armed with Gamcha, Towel , in Night gown, Nighty , Barmuda, Lungi .... to fight with the Wave and shriek at the top of their voice , Tender coconut helps them to remain hydrated. In the evening just Adda on the beach with fried prawn....
Not so long ago if any of our relatives son/daughter remained missing for a couple of day then invariably he or she used to come back as Couple with Palm Leaf basket ( full of Jibhey Goja) in hand , proving that they got married at Jagannath temple and spent their honeymoon in Puri. Still Puri is one of the most popular Honeymoon destination for a large section of Bengali.
Some how me and my Kids feel better if we can soak in this culture for an hour or so and go back to our temporary residence 5 KM away from the Gateway of Haven !

Its a falls Near Bogalake... its on the way to Kewkradong.... To get to this place we had to walk\trek upwards towards the fall from the path to Kewkradong.

Chingri Jharna is the most beautiful waterfall that I witnessed till date in Bangladesh which is next to Bogalake,Bandarban. I saw it in the trek of bogalake to Keokradong.

(Chingri mach dia kochurloti ranna) . আমাদের দেশে বিভিন্ন ধরনের কচু পাওয়া যায় এবং এই সবজি দিয়ে যে কত প্রকারের তরকারী রান্না করা যায় তা আমরা সবাই কম বেশি জানি । আজকে আমি এই ভিডিওটি তে চিংড়ি মাছ দিয়ে কচুরলতি রান্না করেছি । কচুরলতির সঙ্গে সাধারনত ইলিশ মাছ এবং চিংড়ি মাছ দিয়ে রান্না করলে খেতে খুবই সুস্বাদু হয় । প্রয়োজনীয় উপকরণ : ১। কচুরলতি - ২৫০ গ্রাম ২। জিরা বাটা - ১.৫ চা চামচ ৩। রসুন বাটা - ০.৫ চা চামচ ৪। পেয়াজ বাটা - ১ চা চামচ ৫। কাঁচা মরিচ - ১ টি ৬। পেয়াজ কুচি - ২ টি ৭। চিংড়ি মাছ - ১২ পিস ৮। লবন - প্রয়োজন মত ৯্। মরিচের গুড়া ১০। হলুদের গুড়া ১১। সরিষার তৈল ১২। সয়বিন তৈল Necessary Ingredients for Shrimp Kochurloti curry : 1. This fountain, which is like 30 mins hiking towards the Keokaradong from Boga Lake is named 'Chingri Jhorna' [Shrimp Fountain].
I almost fell out of a slippery trail while trekking towards it and I was kinda scared as my sandal didnt have any grip on it ! But, once we go there and saw the rainy season version of this little fountain, I felt like - it was all worthy !

Sundarban tour by reserved boat for 3 D / 4 N
These trips cover the Sundarban forest- the largest mangrove forest in the world (5770sk.km) and the home of Royal Bengal Tiger. A network of River and creeks criss – crosses their dense evergreen forests. You often find tiger crossing the river and crocodiles basking in the sun. Deer’s, wild boars, otters river Dolphin, over 270 species of birds, 120 species of fish, 50 species of reptiles and 8 species of amphibians are still found there. THE WORLD HERITAS SITES- the largest remaining tract of habitat for the Royal Bengal Tiger can be the best place for adventures cruising for a few days.
REGULAR sundarban TRIP:
Day-01:
Depart Dhaka at around 10:00 pm for an overnight bus journey to Khulna.
Day-02: You will Board to the boat at Khulna in the Morning. On way, we will stop at Daingmari forest station to take the permit finally.Sitting on the watch tower to have a look the wildlife, going into the beach for swimming or sports. Before sun set stop at any convenient place or Katka forest station for overnight stay.
Day-03:On this day, we will offer different activities at around Katka & Kachikhali, like walking into the forest, sitting on the watch tower to have a look the wildlife, going into the beach for swimming or sports. Birds watching & finding wild animals in the narrow creeks/canal in the evening by a country boat. Over night on Kachikhali
Day-04:More activities in the forest and we will Start the return journey and on way back visit on Karamjal wildlife sanctuary in the late afternoon and cruise back to Khulna / Mongla to take the return journey to Dhaka by train / air / a/c Volvo bus.

Rocket steamer trip for sundarban forest
Day-01: leave Dhaka at 06:30 pm from sadarghat by rocket upstream to south about to Mongla by 1st class cabin sleeping. Dinner from boat
Day-02: enjoy the country side of Bangladesh to find the riverine Bangladesh. The rocket will reach at around 06: 00 pm and on arrival, board to the sundarban cruising boat. On way stop at daingmari for coast guard and permission finally. The boat will move through sundarban forest about to dominant point of sundarban at Katka.
Day-03: On arrival early in the morning you find majestic scenery of katka where thousands of deer and virgin beach more activities in the forest, cruising in the canal to have the wildlife and walking into the beach is major activities of the trip. In the afternoon resume start the return journey to mongla / Khulna to take the overnight bus journey to Dhaka.

Note: there is only 10 – 12 cabin for 20-24 people sleeper condition and other people can seating on the boat and need prior permission to the director of rocket reservation for full booking.

Life of haor people is very struggling. They are to survive with various natural calamities and with limited opportunities of life. These fishermen are catching small prawn (gura icha/gura chingri) with push net. They lost their crops last year by flash flood. Fishing is their only income source in this period.
