it was time for afternoon classes for the younger monks at Chimi Lhakhang and this older monk was keeping watch at the doorway for those that might want to enjoy the fall sunshine instead of study. He was memorizing scriptures while he waited.

Prayer Wheels, symbolic of the Buddhist faith, come in all sizes dotting Bhutan’s countryside and urban communities. Inside each prayer wheel is a tightly rolled-up scroll of mantras. Spinning the wheel is equivalent to reciting the mantras. The wheel must be spun clockwise.

According to ancient Buddhist traditions, spinning the wheel brings you merit and purifies your soul. The more you spin, the more merits you gain, leading to a higher chance of entering Nirvana. Nirvana is the state of being without personal desire, which is the ultimate goal of Buddhists.

Lastly, spinning the prayer wheel leads to self-actualization and finally enlightenment. (Source: Daily Bhutan Newsletter)

This location is conveniently on the trail to the Chimi Lhakhang Monastery (temple of fertility) and on our day doubled as a pop-up market. Full credit to our wonderful guide, Mr. Kinley Wangdi, who kindly requested a picture of this lady and son on my behalf.

She's Chimi, a Minifee NF and NOPE, she doesn't being abused... Chimi is a badass, has temperament and she's is always fighting, so this is the only way I know to show her personality... I will give her a try with this make up ^^
