Phoenicopterus chilensis

The Zwillbrocker Venn on the German-Dutch border is the world's northernmost breeding colony of flamingos. There are Greater Flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus), American Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) and chile flamingos.

While the American Flamingo and Chilean Flamingo are certainly captive escapees, the Greater Flamingos could also have migrated from southern Europe.

In autumn, the flamingos migrate to resting areas (Ijselmeer, Veluwemeer, Oostvaardersplassen) in the Netherlands and spend the winter in the Rhine-Meuse Delta.

this is just one of the incredibly beautiful mountainscapes I had the chance to see after coming back from a hike in the Andes, right at the Argentina-Chile border. The car was moving but the landscape was unique, so I did my best to get it right. no time for tripods nor for second chances, think fast and shoot fast. special thanks to the bus driver whom kindly slowed down a bit to help me out.

The sea was very rough the day we were there, so the boat we sat in when I made the shot was moving a lot all the time -- and we couldn't go close up to the island. With some element of luck, this shot is reasonable sharp in any case -- even if the bird was some 15-20 meters away from me.

The fungi in the picture would likely have a rich, warm cinnamon color, with intricate patterns and textures that give it a unique appearance. Its cap may be round and flat or slightly curved, with a slightly darker, reddish-brown center and lighter, tan-colored edges. The cap could be covered in tiny bumps or scales, adding to its overall texture. The stem of the fungi may be thick and sturdy, with a lighter color than the cap. It may have a rough texture or be covered in fine hairs. The fungi may be surrounded by lush green foliage and moist earth, as it thrives in damp environments.

Overall, the picture of this cinnamon-colored fungi found deep in the cold rainforest of the Chilean Patagonia would be a stunning representation of the diverse and unique flora found in this remote and beautiful part of the world.
