this is just one of the incredibly beautiful mountainscapes I had the chance to see after coming back from a hike in the Andes, right at the Argentina-Chile border. The car was moving but the landscape was unique, so I did my best to get it right. no time for tripods nor for second chances, think fast and shoot fast. special thanks to the bus driver whom kindly slowed down a bit to help me out.

"História do Cerro Santa Lucía

A história do Cerro Santa Lucía é bastante antiga. A verdade é que essa formação geográfica sempre existiu ali, mas os primeiros a nomeá-la foram os índios Machupe, que chamaram o cerro de Huélen, o que significa algo como dor, tristeza e sofrimento. O nome Santa Lucía só foi atribuído ao local em dezembro de 1540 pelo conquistador espanhol Pedro de Valdívia. Santa Lucía foi uma mulher que viveu apenas 21 anos no final do século 3 e, depois de sua morte, ela foi considerada uma santa pelas igrejas Católica, Anglicana, Luterana e Ortodoxa. Um fato importante sobre o local é que foi nos pés desse cerro que Valdívia fundou oficialmente a cidade em fevereiro de 1541, o que torna essa uma importante atração histórica de Santiago."
