Etretat (France) -Changement de décor et d’auteur. Nous quittons Cabourg (Calvados) et Marcel Proust pour Etretat (Seine-Maritime) et Guy de Maupassant. Un autre documentaire de 52 minutes écrit et réalisé par Christian Clères pour la télévision.

Chargé de faire les photos qui serviront à la promotion du documentaire, je retrouve Christian et l’équipe de tournage à « La Guillette ». Plusieurs séquences seront tournées dans cette maison que fit construire l’écrivain normand, sur un terrain ayant appartenu à sa mère.

Nous sommes dans la salle de « La Guillette » et je venais de photographier en plan serré Christian, maquillé par Jean-Michel, le producteur. Cette série disposant d’un petit budget, tout le monde participe. On est entre l’artisanat et le bricolage. Dès que j’ai pris la photo, j’ai immédiatement dézoomé pour faire un plan plus large. L’œil toujours dans le viseur, j’ai réalisé que je pouvais intégrer le reflet de toute l’équipe dans le reflet du monumental miroir. Tout s’est passé en une seconde. Ce n’est qu’après que j’ai réalisé que la glace était particulièrement sale. Le propriétaire savait qu’une équipe de tournage serait présente ce jour là, il aurait quand même pu passer un coup chiffon.

At Guy de Maupassant's

Etretat (France) - Change of decor and author. We leave Cabourg (Calvados) and Marcel Proust for Etretat (Seine-Maritime) and Guy de Maupassant. Another 52-minute documentary written and directed by Christian Clères for television.

Responsible for taking the photos that will be used to promote the documentary, I find Christian and the film crew at "La Guillette". Several sequences will be shot in this house that the Norman writer had built, on land that belonged to his mother.

We are in the room of "La Guillette" and I had just taken a close-up photograph of Christian in his make-up class. As soon as I took the picture, I immediately zoomed out to get a wider shot. With my eye still in the viewfinder, I realized that I could integrate the reflection of the whole team into the reflection of the monumental mirror. It all happened in a second. It was only afterwards that I realized that the ice cream was particularly dirty.

For Christmas just past, a very dear friend who knows I love photography and being creative with tabletop photography gave me some little LED lights and a box of amazing and different ribbons as a gift. Amongst them was a string of gold daisies and a string of orange chiffon flowers.

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a monthly challenge called “Snap Happy”. A different theme, or a selection of themes to choose from or combine is provided on the 5th of every month, and the image is to be posted on the 5th of the following month.

The themes for February are “water”, “all creatures great and small” and “the colour orange”.

When I saw the theme, I immediately thought of my box of beautiful ribbons, and remembering the string of orange chiffon flowers, I immediately began to play. I have used three of the ribbons and the LED lights my friend gave me in this photo. I sent it to her to show what I had done, and she approved. I hope that you approve of my orange submission too!

The under tail feathers of the Elegant Trogon displayed nicely here. There are so many surprises with this bird. When searching you look for its shadow or a flash of red flying down the dry river bed. An amazing adventure.
