a moment suspended in stillness. she reaches toward the window not to escape, but to feel the warmth of the light — as if its presence might speak. between the rhythm of shadows and the silence of iron bars, there’s a calm defiance. she isn’t waiting. she’s listening.

Just playing around. Wanted to light the whole scene with just the oil lamp, but had to bounce a speedlight off the ceiling to add some fill. (No I didn't dye my hair grey for the shot. It's very easy to turn blond hair grey in PS.)

i really liked the chiaroscuro effect of this cafe's key lighting on columbus ave. these two kept looking over at me, since i was set up in this location for a couple hours shooting the zeotrope building anyways. not sure they wanted their pictures taken. sigh.

Artist Statement

“Legacy Object No. 3: Corridor of Abandonment”

A modern intrusion fractures the sacred geometry of a once-grand corridor. Two linear objects—neither torch nor weapon—divide the frame, like punctuation in a dying sentence. Light is both the aggressor and the archivist, flooding decay with memory. The figure, cast in partial shadow, becomes witness, not savior.
