"It's The Shoes!" Knew I had to buy some new sneaks for running and Trikking season. Wondered how to buy vegan-ok shoes. Researched PETA and found that many New Balance shoes are not leather, instead using synthetic materials and that's good. Yes, some glues do have some animal products but the huge compromise is there as it's hard to work without the glue! I've been a Nike girl, but the one pair of NB's I had before now were actually the most comfy sneaks I've ever had. So, I was happy to see NB as vegan friendly! The shoes on the left are chi running shoes. Chi running which is spiritual mid strike running vs. straight up speed power running could be a boost for me. The shoes on the right are NB's "eco shoes," made with a reduced waste design, recycled materials, and rice rubber soles. They are kinda cute and very comfy. Once again, I am loving that conscious buying can be compassionate and fashionable too.

These are the Newtons of Natural Running Store President, Patton Gleason. They have about 2000 miles on them combined. To get a better feel for the ground the sock liners have been removed.
He knows when you've been heel striking, he knows when you push off. He can sense shin splints, so run right for goodness sake.

Thursday Training!
After watching a video on Chi Running, I was so stoked last night, I went out and bought a new pair of running shoes.
I used to run, a lot. Now with my knee, not so much. With this new Chi running form, I'm going to train again. At least shoot for the Rock N Roll Half Marathon in Portland in 2012.
I may end up going to my ortho first for another MRI or maybe even surgery but if I can run again, it'll be totally worth it!
I live in the Pacific Northwest in Vancouver, Washington. Pacific Northwet. Yup... it rains a lot. I used to love running in the rain. Today, I thought not so much. My new shoes do not keep my feet dry but at least my knee isn't as sore as expected it to be.
