We worked with a long-time client in Chevy Chase, MD to achieve this wonderful "marbled" faux finish. We also painted the ceiling and trim.

WIT: I didn't have any female models at hand to assist in a proper emulation of Ruth Bernhard. Therefore, I decided to work on shadows and light Opportunity was provided by the Blizzard of 2009, which left a blanket of snow on the front yard. When the storm passed and the sun emerged, the handrail on the front walk cast this shadow. I had to dial up the contrast in pp to get the image my eye saw before I shot it.

I can't say that her work was especially inspiring or instructive. It is always a good idea to concentrate on light and shadow, as she did. So for that reminder I am thankful.
