This red-bellied woodpecker scouts for a likely branch to find food for its brood, located in the cavity just on the other side of the tree.
A starling works on clearing a cavity that had been used by woodpeckers to nest in the spring.

This Blue Jay likes this hanging tree limb -- just takes a flying leap to land on it and have it swing back and forth while he rides it. They're really smart birds.
This grackle just has such a worried and slightly angry look on his face the way his eye ring is shaped. Don't worry, we're not after your bug.
Okay, it's a rabbit, but hare just sounds better.
Here's this rabbit is scratching at a tick on his nose, trying to get it off him.

I have literally no idea what this is, I just found it attached to a utility pole with three more like it.
The red seeds emerging from this fruit are not even the true seeds; squeeze it ad the black true seed emerges from the red.
A male mallard duck gets up and looks at us suspiciously as we approach, distracting him from foraging in a culvert.
And yes, the trip out birding yesterday was a bit of a let down. Still need that #365project photo though!
