I may bleed Ford Blue , but even I know that no one can resist the allure of a Corvette. This is a neighbors ride and it is fabulous. Tonight I was lucky enough to finally get a shot worth posting. No HDR just a single raw processed (decreased contrast and sharpened) in CS3.

the never ending battle continues...but in this case it's very friendly rivalry. The beautiful drop top Camaro belongs to a good friend and co-worker. We met up at a car show and had a great time. Built with all the goodies including a 572 crate motor , his beast was built to win trophies and handle any contenders on the street. My little Pony would not stand a chance...

a semi regular at our local cruisenite...perfection on wheels!

this local legend was seen at a recent car show.....

Nickey Chevrolet was based in Chicago, USA, and perhaps the biggest factory performance sales and service Dealership, Speedshop and Super Car Converter anywhere, during their reign.

Nickey Chevrolet was established in the 1920s at the corner of Kedvale and Irving Park Rd. When the Kennedy expressway was built Nickey Chevrolet moved to its final home, in the mid 50's. It was sold in 1973, when it became Keystone Chevrolet. Nickey Chevrolet's final location was at 4501 Irving Park Road, in Chicago.

Nickey Chevrolet grew to a huge 200,000-square-foot (19,000 m2) facility in the 1960s which boasted the largest inventory of "Genuine Chevrolet High Performance Parts." Nickey Chevrolet began its high performance parts business in 1957 and immediately went racing with tremendous success.

Their "Purple People Eater" Corvettes became famous and soon everyone knew that Nickey was spelled with a backwards "K". Nickey created the Super Car Genre. They specialized in engine swaps, and dropped 427s into the very first 1967 Camaros and soon turned to Nova's and Chevelles, as well as other cars with 427s or the Z/28's 302 V8. The 454 was added in 1970 and any other part was available through Nickey's extensive parts department.

Nickey Chevrolet became General Motors largest volume selling Dealership for both parts and vehicles, and many were of the Hi-Performance variety.

The key players who built Nickey's performance cars and image moved to a new location in 1973 on Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago. The New Speed Shop and Automobile converter was called "Nickey Chicago".

Nickey Chicago continued to build legendary Hi-Performance Chevys until 1977 when the speed/performance shop finally closed its doors.

Recently "Nickey Chicago Inc." has been revitalized by Stefano Bimbi and key individuals from the original Nickey Chicago era. The new location is St. Charles, Illinois. More info can be found at the Nickey Chicago website. The company announced plans to build Stage I, II and III 2010 model Camaro Super Cars on the Generation V Camaro platform.

seen at World of Wheels - Chicago 2011

Last year I entered a pic of the Stang into a photo contest for one of my Fav Car Mags (Popular Hot Rodding) and placed. rOckstarr ( www.flickr.com/photos/amdn/) came in second! Then was lucky enough to be invited to be a part of a cover shoot featuring real hot rods that are built and used by the owners. I met a great group of guys there and comparing builds was a lot of fun. I got teased some since my Stang is very quiet compared to the rest of the group, but I drive it too much too much to deal with that noise, unlike past rides I've owned. I shot this while we were lining up for the 1st of a series of set ups. (Note: I was the only Ford there, so it was a real honor to represent the brand with pride!) Needless to say it was a day me or my son will ever forget.

A Chicagoland racing legend. Seen at a Gasser reunion car show a few years back.

always had a soft spot for a tunnel ram set up...only ran one set up back in the day and now wish I had experimented more..

The Bill Thomas Cheetah was a street/race car built in the early to mid-1960s by well-known Chevrolet performance tuner Bill Thomas as a competitor to Carroll Shelby’s Cobra. The prototype was largely designed and built by Don Edmunds, an employee of Thomas’ although Thomas was closely involved coordinating support for the project. Financing for the project came from private investors including Thomas and John Grow, a Rialto, California Chevrolet dealer. In fact, the first car belonged to John Grow. Using his racing connections, Thomas arranged for material assistance from Chevrolet for the major components – specifically, the Corvette engine, transmission and rear-end assemblies.

Despite some initial evil handling tendencies on road courses, few cars could catch it in a straight line due to its Thomas-built 377 cu in (6.2 L) displacement, dual air-meter, fuel-injected Chevy small-block V8 based engine. On the dragstrip, the car reportedly posted faster numbers than the much-vaunted 427 Cobra.

A fire in the factory destroyed the original plywood body buck, the factory drag car and some spare parts inventory, thus contributing to the eventual demise of the car. Another factor in the end of production was due to General Motors adherence to the automaker racing ban, thus killing backdoor projects like the Cheetah and the much-required parts supply. When the parts supply dried up, there was no way for Thomas to achieve the homologation numbers needed for racing, which went from 100 to 1000 units. Lastly, race car design was evolving and the true mid-engined configuration represented the wave of the future. To illustrate this point, in approximately the same time frame, Shelby’s Daytona coupes were rendered obsolete by the GT-40.

The remaining original cars are left as highly desirable collector items. No official records are known to exist documenting the exact number of cars produced, but best estimates indicate as many as 29 cars were built to varying degrees of completion and configuration.

Bill Thomas died on 10 Oct 2009.

Last shot of the series and a fitting end in my opinion, cause it's never really a car show without a gorgeous Camaro showing up.
