We are now in Cusco, Peru. While we had thought this city would only be a stopover on our way to Machu Picchu, every night we realise we need to stay another night. Though engulfed in tourism, it has a lot of
character, lots to see, observe and take in. This was the post sunset view from the bar in Cusco's bohemian neighbourhood San Blas.

We got to Bariloche from the awe inspiring, stark cold landscapes of deep Patagonia. Though the weather was cold here as well, the trees, picturesque cosy houses and the colours felt warm and welcoming.

Late in the evening, as the Makar Sankranti sun sets, the
night festivities begin. People release paper lamps from their terraces. The sky is now filled with floating lights. Our necks ache as we try to take in the spectacle around. It is a surreal moment.

This is the view of the Taj Mahal from the top of the nature trail on the East side. The sun was playing hide-and-seek with the clouds and we were trying to get that perfect time when the clouds would move revealing a golden light.
Suddenly, the light drizzle turned into a heavy lashing. A gazebo on the trail protected us and the camera and we took some rain soaked shots.

A big market sets up in a tiny village called Tarabuco, a couple of hours from Sucre. Locals from the surrounding villages and towns come here for their supply of groceries and other household items; sometime even to trade animals. For the tourists, the main draw is the cloth market which gives a chance to buy the colourful Bolivian textiles directly from the artisans.

Tso Moriri, at a distance of 250km from Leh is a high mountain lake at a height of around 4500m.
We were walking towards Tso Moriri and I saw the concentrated natural light at one place. My friend was standing right in the centre of the light and the sun was about to set. Warm light, long shadows, beautiful Tso Moriri lake in the background created the right moment to take this shot. All I did, was align myself (my shadow) to create a magnificent levitating effect to figure in the centre.

Nagarhole National Park is a tiger reserve in Coorg, Karnataka, a state in south India. We didn't see the tiger but did see the Indian bison, wild hogs, mongoose and the famous Malabar giant squirrel. Sighting or not, it's a highly recommended experience. The early morning air, the smells and sounds of the forest - it's
overwhelming being there witnessing it all!

This is a mosque in the Sarkhej area of Ahmedabad., once famously referred to as the Acropolis of the East. Built in the 15th century, it is yet another piece of the architectural splendours of the city. The water of the artificial reservoir was all dried up when we visited, making it a perfect ground for the local kids to play a game of cricket. Originally a sultan's retreat, even today people come here for a moment of quiet and peace right in the middle of the bustling ahmedabad.View more photos from Ahmedabad.

People of Jaipura, Rajasthan, India "You want my photo? To put it on the internet?" He asked us as we were strolling around chasing the golden light on that cold winter morning.
We asked him what internet was. To which he replied, "Come, see my buffaloes". He then went on to introduce Chetan to all his goats and buffaloes. Needless to say, a photo session followed.
Once the initial apprehension of why we wanted to click their photos went off, he became a gracious, welcoming host. Happy to pose with his buffaloes and grand children (whom he loved equally, we suspect!). "Next time, stay with us", were his parting words.

We were told that people in Kashmir hardly fell ill -
one doesn't really have health issues in such pure air, water and land! Besides, they knew their trees well, and were well versed in how to put them to medical use. This impenetrable health makes a walk of hours with a heavy load on the back seem like a stroll in the park!

Zanskar is probably the most isolated valley in India and Phuktal is the remotest part of Zanskar. The Phuktal monastery is the epitome of monks living high up in the mountains, detached from the rest of the world. All of this made the trek to the Phuktal monastery an exciting adventure.

Possibly the most populous UNESCO World Heritage structure, it is a part of
daily life for millions of commuters. If you want to know what a “block of people” means, try entering the station at 9 AM on a weekday, when people are rushing to their offices. A great place to observe people of all kinds, seeing the sea of mankind emerge out of the station at rush hours is an interesting experience in itself.

Zojila, the pass that connects Srinagar to Ladakh. It starts right after Baltal and runs for around 13km. It remains closed for almost half the year, in the winter months, when it is covered in snow. Understandably, the roads are in a battered condition when it opens up.
Ladakh is the most biked to region in India, and bikers in seen in large numbers treading this treacherous pass.
