Black-winged stilts (Himantopus himantopus), Wood Sandpiper (Tringa glareola), relatively rare Fulvous whistling ducks (Dendrocygna bicolor) and a Glossy ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) in its beautiful breeding plumage.

The Karl Schmidt Memorial is an architectural landmark commemorating a European sailor who drowned in 1930 trying to save the life of a girl. It is located at Elliot's Beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The monument was in a derelict state, but has recently been restored.

These child monks were part of a monk-training programme conducted by Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka situated in Chennai. They were being monks for only 10 days.
