This flower looks like game of checkers. Quite liked the looks of it.

Project 2: Perspective and Distortion

I'm just a pawn on this giant chessboard

This was an idea that my photo teacher, Mr. Mulloy, came up with after I took another similar photo with the chess pieces and laser. I followed the regular, fast checkmate in chess called a four-move checkmate. The laser was hard to make move straight, and obviously, can become messy. It's a little unpredictable as well. I had to do a little clean up in photoshop to get it to look good. I wanted to get a isolation with the chess board to lock in the viewer and the lines to make them travel across the board. The result is good, but I want to try it again in order to get the laser to work better.

Orignially a (poorly lit) overhead shot of a chessboard in checkmate. No tweaking in Lightroom could fix it, but I accidently found that I could "burn out" the shadows by only slightly increasing the fill light. Make B&W, mess with contrast, and voila!

Breaking the rules with the composition. Not sure how I like this yet.
