I'd already stopped macro hunting when saw this scene. They looked like playing seriously but relaxing (Tair 3s 300mm f/4.5 on HDR)

George and Martha Washington, their family, and guests likely spent hours playing with this chess set in Mount Vernon's Front Parlor. Chess would have resonated with George Washington as a game of strategy with strong military symbolism. This chess set is one of few objects that survive related to the couple's leisurely pursuits.
