He had his checkup today with the vet and proved to be healthy….weighing 10.1 lbs (less than half of Obby's weight), and about 6 years old (a best guess based on dental tartar)….life is settling in here…they are more comfortable…no fights at all, but lots of mumbling.
Rotary Club of Kalyan Riverside has orgamised a medical chck camp for students, children, women and senior citizens of a small village. Total beneficiaries were near to 200. Some medicines & multi vitamins were also distributed. The day was also a Polio immunisation day i.e. 21st March, 2010

Today was Evelyn's 12 month well baby check-up. She is perfectly healthy and right on track developmentally. She got two shots and a poke in her big toe. Back to the ophthalmologist today, for my yearly checkup. I’ve been monitored for low tension glaucoma for a while now, and I’m still in good shape – I don’t have it. This particular test is the visual acuity test; you stick your head in that space, and they put a patch over one eye. With your other eye, you stare at this light in the center, and they occasionally throw up a small blue light on the yellow field. When you see one, you click a button.
It would be cooler if when you hit the button, there was a small exploding sound.

We took all 3 cats to the vet today at the same time for their annual exam and shots. Johan was the most relaxed, and actually was almost normal.
Eye checkup at Byers Eye Institute @ Stanford in Palo Alto today. All is well. Pressure still a little high in right eye, but keeping watch on it. Doctor thinks I might be in minority with normally higher pressure. Back in 3 months to check again. Trying to make sure I'm not a candidate for Glaucoma.

I had my biannual checkup today and that included a fasting lab and abuse by John.
When I was at the check-in desk, he walked up and said: "Wait for me..." then gave me the universal hand sign for "taking a photo".
Of course I'll wait for John. Not only because he's hilarious, but because he almost always gets blood from me on the first try.
Today, I had an eye appointment to checkup on my eyesight because it has been two years since I got my reading glasses. I managed to talk too much about the faire, of course, and photography, of course... and of course- faire photography. I have a folder of photos on my phone that I labeled: "Faire to Share" so I can just hand my phone to a person and they can swipe through nothing but faire photos. When I took this photo, I couldn't see a damn thing close up! (that's why I'm not exactly looking at the lens of my phone).
Anyway, I had my eyes dilated again. This time though, my body reacted oddly. I got a headache and I felt woozy. It even triggered a low-level pain flareup with my fibro. Very odd. I don't have eye coverage with my health insurance, so I go to Walmart because the entire exam itself is only $65. While there, I had to pick up a few things for dinner tonight, so I wandered around, a little dazed, kind of woozy, and achy. By the time I got in my truck to drive home, the flareup had started and the headache was fully annoying. I took out my hearing aid (sometimes that helps with the sensation overload from a flareup) and I turned my AC up to high.
It helped. I made it home safely and the headache wore off and the flareup stopped flaring. But damn, all that from eye dilation!

I took Chestnut in to the vet for a real checkup, and not just what was done at the Pasadena Humane Society Animal Shelter last August. That was when I trapped her and had her fixed. However, the doctor treating Chestnut told me she worked at the shelter last year and assured me they do great work there, though pretty fast work. Chestnut got a couple of vaccinations, a blood test for leukemia (she tested negative -- fortunately), a stool test, and was treated for ear mites. The latter tends to be a problem for cats who spend most (if not all) of their time outdoors. Otherwise, Chestnut checked out fine. I also had Chestnut microchipped, which is important in this day and age. She has a follow-up visit a month from now. Meantime, Eliza has a visit scheduled two weeks from Saturday.
