FishActivists checking the mesh size of fishing nets on a dock in a port on Sicily. With a team of 10 international volunteers we documented illegal fishing activities around Sicily, focusing on the catch of undersized swordfish.
Overfishing is a serious problem in the Mediterranean! With over 90% of all fish stocks overexploited in the area, the future of a healthy ecosystem full of life is at risk! We will continue our fight against the destruction of marine ecosystems by uncovering illegal fishing practices all over Europe!

The Jesse White Tumbling Team is composed of young kids from the housing projects in Chicago. The team was founded by Jesse White in 1959 as a juvenile delinquency prevention program. The members have to adhere to strict rules such as staying in school, maintaining a "C" average and staying away from gangs and drugs.
The team has performed in several national sporting events, various TV programs in the U.S. and Japan.
This summer we were honored to see their performance at the Kennedy Center Open House. They are wonderful to watch....so graceful....they seem to tumble and fly through the air like birds.

The predator, a Red Shouldered Hawk (I believe) and prey (a Common Garter snake) are sharing a glance with one another at this very moment. I was so excited in this very moment, having been given such a wonderful opportunity to shoot such an amazing event. I didn’t shoot it well, but I’ll have many more opportunities in the future. Still figuring out my new lens! #hawk #raptor #snake #accipitiformes #buteo #thamnophis #California #sonomacoast #nikon #tamron

The girlfriend checking for updates on social media during Hurricane Irma instead of spending quality time with me...(see flooding outside the window)
Nowadays, we are constantly posting, commenting, and tweeting during big events...like Hurricane Irma. It has become socially acceptable to be on your phone in times where you should be more engaged with those physically around you. My girlfriend and I were stuck in the house for 4 days, and she took to her cell phone to stay updated and connected with the rest of the world. Call me old fashioned, but I really just wanted to sit on the floor surrounded by candles and play a nice game of Monopoly.
