I'm still enchanted and mesmerized by my stay at the historic Hotel Fort Des Moines for business travel this week.
This beautiful, old hotel, where former celebrities, foreign royalty and presidents alike have stayed, has captured both my heart and my imagination. I have researched that it originally opened in 1919.
I hope to stay here again on my next trip to Des Moines, for business or for pleasure.

Badger in Lamar Valley, Yellowstone NP, Wyoming. Rumor was that she might be moving her pups to a new den. Dozens of photographers lined the road with very long lenses to catch an image....
How I got thrown out of the Apple Store in Glasgow for being on the phone while holding a notebook. I did have my camera around my neck, but the lens cap was on. I was told that the people who post photos of Apple products on Flickr are going to be "contacted". I was also told that Apple "have people" who take care of their "image" online and people are not allowed to take photographs of Apple products and post said photos online.
Bet you didn't know that either.
I was fascinated by the sound room. Everyone just kinda looked inside and then walked out, but I stayed and asked the gentleman working there if it was alright for me to take pictures and I stayed there for a few minutes talking to him. He was really touched that I took an interest in what he does. He said to me, "You know, nobody really gives me credit. When people come to visit, everyone is fascinated by the news room and the reporters, but people don't realize that without the sound, TV wouldn't be what it is. It really means a lot that you took an interest in this."
He was so sweet :)
Double Check Memorial, used to be in Liberty Plaza AKA Zuccotti Park, Manhattan.
After 9/11, the battered bronze statue -- named "Double Check" -- became a symbol of those who lost their lost lives on September 11, 2001. In the days following the attacks, rescue workers placed an FBI hard hat on its head and a coil from a fire hose at its side while others placed messages honoring loved ones who died, the paper explained.
The statue's sculptor, Seward Johnson, restored "Double Check" in his Mercerville, New Jersey, studio, removing several layers of toxic dust from its exterior. After it was cleaned, Johnson gave the statue an ashen-gray coating to replicate the way it appeared after 9/11, the News said.

I was in one of those states where I was shifting between one world to the next. The timelinez are tricky. Still.
At that moment, not sure when it was in the future, one of my friends was showing me a new martial art move they just learned. I managed to snap off a shot before everything dissolved into the next scene.

BIC staffer Asha Rajbansi checks a pheromone trap for insects in the project demonstration garden. This simple trap lures insects in via smell, and requires no chemical spray for controlling pests. (Photo by Leah Reesor-Keller, 2014).
Another piece of art outside a fire hall. This one declares, "We check our equipment daily; Check your smoke detectors weekly."
