Checking out the new 25,000 sq foot Starbucks (that served booze!) that just opened in iConSiam mall...

The obligatory 'Forgot To Use The Timer' shot of me looking at my phone. I might start an album.

The first pass was to check wind and make sure all is set for the drop

We reached this location which is a popular pitstop for tourists, early in the morning before all the tourists arrived. When the bus pulled over, everybody jumped out to check out the souvenirs they were selling next to the road. Me, I jumped down to the dried up lake and had the place all to myself and I was probably the only one that could take lots of pictures of this place without a single tourist in it! ;) Seconds later, 3 more buses pulled over and the lake started to look like an anthill…

Some facts from wiki:

Chott el Djerid (Arabic: شط الجريد‎ Šaṭṭ al-Ǧarīd), also spelt Shaţţ al Jarīd, Sciott Gerid, and Shott el Jerid, is a large endorheic salt lake in southern Tunisia.

The bottom of Chott el Djerid is located between 10 and 25 meters above sea level.[5] Roughly in the shape of a tadpole, with a width of 20 km at its narrowest point, it reaches 250 km in overall length. At times, parts of it appear in various shades of white, green and purple.

It is the largest salt pan of the Sahara with a surface area of over 7,000 km2 (some sources state 5,000 km2). Due to the extreme climate with annual rainfall of only 100 mm and temperatures reaching 50 °C, water evaporates from the lake. In summer Chott el Djerid is almost entirely dried up, and numerous fata morganas occur.

During winter, a small tributary of water can be seen discharging into the lake.

This sign is always a fun place to take pictures; I'm thinking that I need to pick up a fast prime one of these days so I can get some creamy, out of focus backgrounds.

I was just in Seattle for a week and one of the stops was the amazing Chihuly Garden and Glass museum near the Space Needle. Took this shot of a lady checking out the glass displays. I loved the Native American feel to some of the work that was displayed and this wall of portraits really caught my eye.

Explored :) Thanks guys.

I don't usually give shout outs, but I felt it was necessary in this case. BuiltWithBricks has some really great customs and he's only been on flickr for a month. As of typing he's only got 46 followers. Lets get him to 100 by the end of the day. Go give him a follow!

Those old doll commercials can make a collector obsessive! Some of you may remember the 1967 TV ad I posted recently featuring Francie and her pal Casey and some of those wild 1967 fashions … well, seeing that ad years ago first ignited my desire for not only Francie and Casey but also some specific outfits of theirs, with these two being at the top of my wishlist. Most of you have seen ‘Border-Line’ on my Francie in a recent pic, but here’s my blonde Casey wearing ‘Check This,’ A black and white gingham checked taffeta number that’s perfect for all those dances! This outfit retains all the terrific designer detailing of the earlier vintage outfits, with the chiffon ruffles edging the neckline and hem, and the very thin inset of yellow chiffon in the fashionable ‘empire’ waist seam, not to mention those very ‘Mod’ appliqued vinyl daisies scattered over the skirt and dotting the matching chiffon shawl. It also came with some short white gloves, but I thought I would leave them off, just as Casey did in the TV ad I posted earlier. These two outfits look so great together, that I think I will leave them displayed together for now.

The radio cable is short so we need to get close to test communications. . OFV (we LOVE acronyms in the space industry): or On-orbit Fit Verification: we try out our spacesuits before taking them out this week. Mark is working hard getting us in the suit and making sure everything is in configuration… and that the suit is airtight. It seems like we’re getting a foot massage, but we’re not!

The awesome Amanda Palmer performing at her Edge Festival gig at the HMV Picture House in Edinburgh this August.

I was in the happy position of being able to shoot the whole gig from the "pit" in front of stage. My thanks are due to Beth Hommel (Amanda's PA) for arranging my photo pass.

You can see all my other pics of Amanda in my Amanda Palmer set.

Please have a listen to the samples from Amanda's new album (which is great!) called:

Oh...and check out some rather nifty videos too: whokilledamandapalmer.com/videos

While you're surfing...I would also recommend sampling some of Amanda's work with The Dresden Dolls:

Havana, Cuba.

I don't blame this guy for raising his shades to check out this gorgeous Chevrolet. There are loads of well maintained 50's American cars driving around Cuba. I managed to get a quick snap while walking to catch a bus. This wasn't a car show, just inner city parking... Havana style.
