This picture was taken a year ago, and this is when we would expect to be spending time at our holiday home in Looe. But this year it was not to be.
When the tide is in at Looe in south-east Cornwall several small boats normally run a ferry service across the river between East Looe and West Looe (pictured). This saves a walk of several hundred yards to and from the bridge across the river. It must be one of the cheapest ferries in the world at just 50p per person. Well worth it.
Most small Wisconsin towns feature these visually distinct yet structurally aligned downtown buildings, as the cheapest way to build but able to show some individuality.
Narrow but deep lots would tend to build up around certain gathering spots (churches, railroads) leading to this common downtown look.
Wisconsin tends to be known for "Brick facades, modest ornamentation and cream city block" and of course food, beer, brats and hardware.
Being from California this style of building has long since been abandoned due to our earthquakes, so interesting to see.
It was the cheapest I could afford.

Possibly one of my cheapest shots (not counting ones where I had everythnig anyway). The cost was..30L, which was for the shirt, paid for with a gift card from Ardy. The pants were a 5 min demo Seiren found for me (I think she was very motivated to track down open jeans). Ivy's suggestion for open jeans in the first place..along with Chey's novel method of approval (ask her), also helped!

I find that the cheapest rice is the best. I have tried all sorts of fancy smancy rice and the Piggly Wiggly brand is the best. You must follow the directions on the bag and you will have perfect rice. I used some left over rib fat grease and added it to the water when I boiled this rice. You can use chicken broth, tomato sauce or any sort of broth to cook the rice
This book is my cheapest and most expensive book. emo value. found it in 2004 without even looking for a book or something. entered a shop with old design and small antique accessories. took a walk. don’t judge a book by its cover; the shop appeared to be bigger and much deeper than one could initially think. arrived at another section, the back where it was semi dark and smelly with thousands of old books. stood only still at one point, to return. then I saw this book. hardly ever bought second hand books. thought Einstein and it’s an old one and not a technical one but about his life and written by a close family friend. went straight to the counter where two old men were chatting. still remember ‘the feeling’ after I bought it. when I got outside I held the bag to my body as if it was a huge piece of gold and walked with a smile. internal smile was nice: the seller even asked me kind if I wanted a bag after he said 1€. i repeated 1€? he never looked at the book. guess they were all 1€ each. and I like Einstein.
Well, there isn’t much of a choice here as I see it. Nobody likes a naked cow.
I want my beef dressed. I am thinking a pink tutu and a bright red halter top with a nice scarf to accent the ensemble. The only question is the footwear. I don’t think ballerina slippers would be practical on a cow.. not with the field full of manure. I guess I’ll go with combat boots.
Think how much money some of these people are going to spend to have their cow dressed in formal wear. The cheapest outfit on the Beef’s ‘Dressed List’ is a two piece bathing suit because there is less material. But, if you are going to go with that the cow might as well be naked.

A beautiful sunset over Loch Lomond last night, and when I phoned home it was still dull and miserable in Edinburgh. So I'm now wondering if it is only Edinburgh that has had rain all summer. My original intention had been to shoot 'the Tree' as I thought all the rain would mean the water levels would be up. So again it makes me think it hasn't been raining anywhere else except Edinburgh. I did discover some useful info as to how they control the water level in the Loch though :o)
A contact on another forum asked if I did lessons, I don't but I said I was happy to go out and pass on what knowledge I could, so Karen came along with me. I hope she picked up some useful tips. She isn't on flickr yet but I'm trying to persuade her to come over someday. Thanks for the company Karen.
And another thing, we came across the weirdest thing..... in the chip shot in Balloch, the fish suppers are the cheapest thing on the menu.... what's that all about, any chip shop I've been in, the fish suppers are the most expensive.... are all the west cost chippies like that?
128s
This was taken with my Pentax stock lens as I was letting Karen borrow my 77mm nd400 that I use on my Sigma 10-20mm (my standard lens), I've got a second nd400 for the stock lens. As the old pier was some distance out it worked fine as I wasn't getting as up close and personal to my photographic subject as I normally would. Quite pleased with the result.

So cheap, in fact, that I have already posted a similar one before, forgive me. But photography is about the details... and... this one is a little more unscrewed, so there is less light there...or is it?
That’s the cheapest gasoline I’ve purchased in quite some time.
And for the record, not directly related to Obama’s administration, as far as I know. (Though it was a talking point of Newt Gingrich and other GOP presidential candidates in 2012)

This was taken in Hanzhou, China in Dec 2005. I went to a tea place near the lake and when I looked at the menu, the cheapest cup of tea was around $10 AUD! I decided to take the gamble, on my friend's prompting, to buy the $30 AUD cup of tea. When would I ever be tempted to buy a $30 cup of tea, after all? I couldn't believe I was spending that much on a cup of tea! What we didn't realise was that a cup of tea included all of this stuff as well. Too bad I had to rush to catch the train to Shanghai, the food kept coming after I left....unfortunately my expensive cup of tea isn't even in this picture but my friend's tea and the free tea they gave you (presumably to clean the palate?) are in the pic.
Yes it is one of the cheapest, lowly built Nikon lenses out there, but its my first..and I'm proud of it. The web-reviews are generally positive though as well.
Oh, and did I forget to mention that I bought this for a measly 95 USD or so? And the piece is practically new, you can take a closer look for yourself :) Also equally assuring is the fact that it is regarded highly as a quick, lightweight "Travel Tele" for ameteur photographers. Nikon camera/lens gear critique extraordinaire-Ken Rockwell says the sweetest things :-
"Its sharp, easy to zoom and has swell bokeh."
Although, the lens has a minimum aperture of 4.5, this baby is still strangely fast!
Sure it doesn't "Autofocus" on my Nikon D40, there's no driving motor inside like those snazzy AFS-DX series lenses. I was opting (and saving up) for a camera upgrade, but finally decided to hold myself back. I thought, there's still many uncharted territories left out there for me to explore with a D40, why waste money on another camera when I have a "Good" one? Also, owning a D40 often gives me excuse or "Reasonable doubt", where I can create subterfuges blaming my low grade gear for a possible "photographic blunder" ;)
Wish me luck .
PS: Thanks to S'uhas bhai to once again reminding my other, opinionated half that cameras might not make a big difference in one's photography at all...also for that "Bangladesh enterprise" incentive ;) You know what I mean, Arif bhai, right?
In Iceland, if there's something you should know about road conditions, it's that if the road is open, you should be able to drive through it, no matter what car you're driving, unless noticed otherwise.
Personnaly, I was driving a Nissan Micra, the smallest, cheapest car I could find, and the first time I was driving a manual car since getting my license back in 2000.
I took the Micra anywhere I could. Most roads were open except for the mountain roads going to the middle of the island, so I could go anywhere a 4x4 would also be allowed too.
So I wasn't tense getting onto road 614. That changed.
Road 614, on top on going up and down on a near vertical basis (if I'm exagerating), is made of rocks you could call boulders and pot holes you could call craters.
And you have to drive through one hairpin turn after the other, still without any barrier to protect you from being catapulted into the abyss at the bottom of the valley while doing hundreds of barrel rolls.
So it was a true relief when I could find an area somehow flat to take a break, a shot, and a cigarette, while thinking how soothing it's going to be to walk in smooth sand for a change.
The Triesenberg-Class ships have become notoriously the cheapest and most effective light carriers in the armada. It is able to carry eight fighters, a supply ship, and a shuttle for carrying crew members to nearby ships/planets. In addition, it is fully equipped with four light cannons, two anti-air guns, and four heavy anti-ship cannons. Even though all of this weaponry is located on the top and sides of the ship, the bottom is equipped with heavier armor to make up the difference.
The USS "Vindicator" is the flagship of the 03rd forward assault fleet, and as such is no stranger to combat. Many lesser ships have fallen before its elite fighter squadrons. Due to its long lifespan, however, it will be retired soon for an upcoming, as yet unknown class of ship. Regardless, it has done what it needed to do, and much more.
Day 30 and it's finally finished! Actually, it was finished yesterday but I couldn't take pictures until today. This thing is considerably longer and wider than last year's SHIP, at about 135 studs long (counting the antennae on the front). It features five hangars, two on the sides and one under the foremost portion of the ship. The front hangar's docking clamp can swing down to easily grab/release the supply ship. The Vindicator also features light-up engines, and motorized landing gear. The landing gear, however, have a VERY hard time holding up the ship's weight, and will collapse if they are jostled to much, resulting in me having to remove all of the bottom plates to fix them. That's why I don't have any pictures of them. Also, ignore the fact that this picture is lower quality than all the others. Long story.
Be sure to check out the other photos in the album. I talk about each part in more detail on those.
