15 October 2013: One of those nights our chase took us to Finland. That's the moon in the background by the way!
“Standing on the snow-covered plain, as if in a pasture amid the hills, I cut my way first through a foot of snow, and then a foot of ice, and open a window under my feet, where, kneeling to drink, I look down into the quiet parlour of the fishes, pervaded by a softened light as through a window of ground glass, with its bright sanded floor the same as in summer; there a perennial waveless serenity reigns as in the amber twilight sky, corresponding to the cool and even temperament of the inhabitants.
Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.”
— Walden (1854) by Henry David Thoreau
(Chapter 16: The Pond in Winter)
"The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning.
The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color." — Natalie Babbitt, Tuck Everlasting

♫ La Primavera ♫
Allegro
Springtime is upon us.
The birds celebrate her return with festive song,
and murmuring streams are
softly caressed by the breezes.
Thunderstorms, those heralds of Spring, roar,
casting their dark mantle over heaven,
Then they die away to silence,
and the birds take up their charming songs once more.
Largo
On the flower-strewn meadow, with leafy branches
rustling overhead, the goat-herd sleeps,
his faithful dog beside him.
Allegro
Led by the festive sound of rustic bagpipes,
nymphs and shepherds lightly dance
beneath the brilliant canopy of spring.
...
The four concertos [of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons] were written to go along with four sonnets. Though it is not known who wrote these sonnets, there is a theory that Vivaldi wrote them himself, given that each sonnet is broken down into three sections, neatly corresponding to a movement in the concerto.
Whoever wrote the sonnets, The Four Seasons may be classified as program music, instrumental music that intends to evoke something extra-musical.— Excerpted from The Four Seasons (Vivaldi) on Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The worm woke up early and drove to the sea for a crawl in the sand to witness the gorgeous rising of the sun.
We are on Padre Island in Texas and hung out on the beach all day yesterday and got a room for the night. The mosquitoes this morning were a surprise but a kindly fisherman shared his bug repellent with me. I was covered with sand and it was glorious!!
Today, Rachel reports to the base and I hope to get some San Antonio exploration in. Hope everyone is having an awesome Sunday ...
... and Happy Worms-eye View Sunday to all!! I will hopefully have some kick back time this week to catch up to all my Flickr Buds!! :D
