I decided to pull from my vast archives for today's fence (and I do mean vast)! *big grin*
I had a choice: the snowy fence or the sunny fence. Decided to go with the sunny fence.
I live right on the edge of civilization. Chicago is the biggest city in Illinois, and Aurora is the second largest city. That is hard to believe! It seems like the rest of Illinois is rural farmlands. Heading west from my house down the interstate is complete emptiness ... a sea of cornfields.
It was bone chillingly cold when I took this image, but somehow it feels warm.

And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer. 🍃🍃
—F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time." —John Lubbock, The Use Of Life
Used the glow stick and wrapped EI white wire around the base of the glass. Added a background texture.
“Standing on the snow-covered plain, as if in a pasture amid the hills, I cut my way first through a foot of snow, and then a foot of ice, and open a window under my feet, where, kneeling to drink, I look down into the quiet parlour of the fishes, pervaded by a softened light as through a window of ground glass, with its bright sanded floor the same as in summer; there a perennial waveless serenity reigns as in the amber twilight sky, corresponding to the cool and even temperament of the inhabitants.
Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.”
— Walden (1854) by Henry David Thoreau

“No changing of place at a hundred miles an hour will make us one whit stronger, happier, or wiser. There was always more in the world than men could see, walked they ever so slowly; they will see it no better for going fast. The really precious things are thought and sight, not pace”
–Ruskin
“What interests me is not the destination, but the attitude [traveling with new eyes and an open mind].” — Giampiero Bodino
☾ “I have noticed that when all the lights are on, people tend to talk about what they are doing – their outer lives.
Sitting round in candlelight or firelight, people start to talk about how they are feeling – their inner lives. They speak subjectively, they argue less, there are longer pauses.
To sit alone without any electric light is curiously creative. I have my best ideas at dawn or at nightfall, but not if I switch on the lights – then I start thinking about projects, deadlines, demands, and the shadows and shapes of the house become objects, not suggestions, things that need to done, not a background to thought.”
— Why I Adore the Night ☾ (Jeanette Winterson)
I really loved the slanted light coming in my window this day and decided to experiment. The crookedness of my window bothers me but otherwise I'm pretty happy with how this turned out, I even like how grainy it is. Starting off the day with some self portraits is a good way to start. :)
Today. It just feels happy, doesn’t it?

False color is quite good, muted a bit but more experiments with the CWB may bring out greater range of false colors. The edges were soft as same as any APS-C partnered with a 10mm lens. The colors of this photo was inverted in PS to get the usual infrared colors of the r72.
Our front yard was a lake during the strong rains last night. The light is from the stret light shining on the puddle.
Added a lens flare above the light in the puddle and added a graduated texture to the image in Photoshop. Added a ghost border in ON1 Effects.

“In the morning I bathe my intellect in the stupendous and cosmogonal philosophy of the Bhagavad gita, since whose composition years of the gods have elapsed, and in comparison with which our modern world and its literature seem puny and trivial; and I doubt if that philosophy is not to be referred to a previous state of existence, so remote is its sublimity from our conceptions.
I lay down the book and go to my well for water, and lo! there I meet the servant of the Bramin, priest of Brahma and Vishnu and Indra, who still sits in his temple on the Ganges reading the Vedas, or dwells at the root of a tree with his crust and water jug. I meet his servant come to draw water for his master, and our buckets as it were grate together in the same well. The pure Walden water is mingled with the sacred water of the Ganges.”
― Henry David Thoreau, Walden: Or, Life in the Woods
Been wanting to shoot this sign forever. Made a special trip to get it. Great South O steak house - been there for years, though I've never been inside. Probably should before it goes away. Looks very old-school inside.

Padre Island is a most unusual beach. At least it was for me. I was there in October, and I was the ONLY one on the beach. I guess everyone went home, back to work or back to school. Obviously, this was good for me!
The long stretch of the Padre Island National Seashore is also unusual in that folks can drive their vehicles right down onto the beach. I'm not sure that I like that idea. I think I'd prefer that it stayed wild & uninhabited (at least by motorized vehicles anyway). And I couldn't do it myself because you really need a 4WD. Being so far from civilization, I didn't think it would be a good idea to bury my rental car in sand!!
Since I won't really get a beach vacation this summer, I am reliving the beach memories. I think everyone may have noticed a large amount of sea-themed images in my Photostream lately. Now you know why! ---> ◔◡◔
Sincerely,
A Beach Bum Wannabee

I'm so sorry I haven't been by everyone's Photostreams much lately ... pining for the sea, taking a Staycation Break (which just can't compare to the beach) ... working on my portfolio & revamping my resume. I will be catching up tonight & tomorrow my wonderful Flickr Peeps!.
This one i really like, the compositional arrangement from the rocks to the trees have been designed as a central focal point. When I saw this particular tree all alone against the waves and rocks that seem to converge to it, i knew what I wanted. My only beef is the light. Big cumulus clouds blocked the sun thus a less dramatic light.
