This house is the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island. The 100 acre parcel of land was donated by Governor Edmund Fanning in 1789 to be used as the Governor's residence. It has recently become known as Fanningbank but is now only about 10 acres. This is the place where the famous photograph of the Charlottetown Conference was taken in 1864.
