The young lady in the photo is Charlotte. Now I'd like to say that Charlotte is a good friend who just happens to like dressing up in Victorian dress and likes nothing more than to be asked to pose for me and my camera in interesting architectural locations. Sadly, that is not quite the case. This was part of a portrait workshop event that I attended late last year run by Gavin Hoey, a UK photographer with quite a strong YouTube presence. It took place at Crossness Pumping Station, which is in the Thamesmead area of London.
I actually signed up for the event because I was interested in seeing and photographing the inside of the old pumping station, which dates back to the second half of the 19th century and is an amazing piece of over the top Victorian architecture that was built to move the sewage out of London and out to sea. (Google 'the great stink, London' and you'll get the story behind it.) At any rate, Charlotte and another male model were on hand for us to shoot with Gavin giving pointers and setting up some lighting for us. In fact this shot is lit by ambient light coming through a nearby window.
Unfortunately I didn't get to shoot much of the old building itself for health and safety reasons. We were herded along in groups and it was difficult to break away to really explore the place as we were asked to stay within quite a limited area. Still, it was a good day to learn some new things, one of them being I don't really enjoy these types of events all that much!

Charlotte Amalie Harbor on the south side of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, was once a haven for pirates such as Blackbeard.
I've been waiting here all night
I could stay forever if I tried
Surrounded by things
Like a shadow in the light
Do I try and stay still for you?
And the clouds will part here
An emptiness of the room
Do you watch me from the corner of your eye?
Do we say goodbye?
BLOL #7504 splits the massive grain silos of the small community of Charlotte, Illinois on the former IC Bloomington District. After making a set out at the elevator, the train will take the remaining empties up to Cullom for loading.

This posting is for me.
Missing my youngest. Charlotte is now at UVA on the law track. I haven't seen her since she turned 18 due to covid.
Smart as a tack, humble, kind, with a natural beauty balanced with a sense of humor.
I haven't seen my daughter since December 2019, but that will all change this weekend. My son is graduating from UCLA and Charlotte is making the trek out here from the east coast for his party. It's the longest I have ever gone without seeing her, I am sure I will fill up a card with shots. Charlotte has always been photogenic and the reason why I got my first camera.
Venerable P42 # 160 gets worked up by Charlotte mechanical for its morning departure on 80; the Carolinian. 160 wears the 50th Anniversary rendition of the ‘Pepsi Can’ paint that was originally applied to our P32-8BWH’s in 1991.
Even though this likely isn't a barn spider...this photo made me think of the children's book, Charlotte's Web.

I was in Charlotte a month ago for a football game and got to go out for a look around that night. Buildings of note are from left to right: The Duke Energy Center, The Wells Fargo Tower and Bank of America Corporate Center.

Her African heritage is part of the legends and facts that cling to the petite German woman who married "mad King George" and who inspired Charlotte, North Carolina.
There is no use trying, said Alice; one can't believe impossible things. I dare say you haven't had much practice, said the Queen. When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.--Lewis Carroll
