Seen locally, i'd been to collect a bike and nearly fell off it when i saw this, I've only ever heard of one other Charade of this era rusting away somewhere in deepest E.London, its taxed and MOT'd to Jun 2024 too. Such a rare car to see in the wild!!
This certainly put a smile across my face when I saw it. I had never seen a Daihatsu Charade in saloon form until I came across this very tidy red example. It must be quite a rarity, when it was last MOT'd in November 2023 it had 73,000 miles on the clock.
The classic crime film 'Charade', directed by Stanley Donen in 1963, took its protagonists Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant to many original locations in Paris of the 1960s.
The Théâtre Marigny is located on the Avenue des Champs Élysées in the direct neighbourhood of the garden of the Élysée Palace in the 8th arrondissement. The theatre was the location for the final fight in which Cary Grant rescues Audrey Hepburn from the villain Walter Matthau.

Das Théâtre Marigny liegt an der Avenue des Champs Élysées in direkter Nachbarschaft zum Garten des Élysée-Palastes im 8. Arrondissement. Das Theater war der Drehort des Schlusskampfes, in dem Cary Grant Audrey Hepburn vor dem Bösewicht Walter Matthau rettet.

The 2nd Daihatsu Charade i saw in the Ilford area in 10 mins! Looked to be in very decent condition too.

I absolutely adore this model of Charade, I've seen this driving around by an elderly woman a couple of times for years now and so obviously i couldn't take a pic in time. So i went now on a little trip and was gutted to see it parked here! Odometer changed in 2007, so having done 96k miles in 2006, it should be somewhere about 150k now?

Last MoT test expired in May 2014 (SORN).

"This first generation 993cc Daihatsu Charade XTE, registered in April 1982, has been off the road for some time so will now require some recommissioning. Its last MoT expired in May 2014 and it shows 63,166 miles on its odometer. One former registered keeper is recorded. The only documentation that accompanies the car are tax discs from 2002 to 2009, so a V5C will need to be applied for."

A rare little thing. Very kind elderly couple too, they bought it new in 1983 and seems to have survived very well!
I've been trying to spot a diesel Charade for ages, I believe they had one of, if not the smallest diesel engine on sale at the time. MOT history of this one looks pretty good, considering its age and relative rarity these days.
The Halt Motor Company on the numberplate are reasonably local (to this area) Daihatsu specialists.

One of the coolest and rarest cars I've ever spotted. Saw it once 8 years ago, and so pleased to see it again
Registered in Berkshire, on SORN/without an MOT since January 2021.
Curiously, it's failed every online recorded MOT since 2007, except for a clean pass in 2009.
First ‘G100’ shape Charade I have spotted in a while! I assumed that it had been off the road for a good couple of years, however it’s last MOT only expired in January. Before being parked up it had a few years of doing decent annual mileage - something quite difficult to do in London! Until 2017 it was a one owner vehicle, which is without a doubt the reason why the car has outlived 99% of other Charades. It’s future isn’t looking good, so I might drop a note through the letterbox when I am next in the area.
