Alongside her work in Isbells, Chantal Acda has worked under the Sleepingdog moniker since 2006, making three well received albums, most recently With Our Heads in the Clouds and Our Hearts in the Fields (2010). On this last release, she worked closely with Adam Wiltzie (Stars of the Lid, A Winged Victory For The Sullen). Her first real solo record, Let Your Hands Be My Guide, was released to international acclaim, and is the result of a remarkable fusion of the talents of Shahzad Ismaily, Peter Broderick, múm cellist Gyða Valtýsdóttir, and Nils Frahm; who also took on the role of producer. A new album, Live in Dresden (with six songs from Let Your Hands Be My Guide, and featuring Alan Gevaert (dEUS), Eric Thielemans & Gaetan Vandewoude (Isbells)) was released by Gizeh records in September 2014.
KU's world famous Rock Chalk Chant evolved from a cheer that a chemistry professor, E.H.S. Bailey, created for the KU science club in 1886. Bailey's version was "Rah, Rah, Jayhawk, KU" repeated three times. The rahs were later replaced by "Rock Chalk," a transposition of chalk rock, the name for the limestone outcropping found on Mount Oread, site of the Lawrence campus.
The cheer became known worldwide. Teddy Roosevelt pronounced it the greatest college chant he'd ever heard. Legend has it that troops used the chant when fighting in the Philippines in 1899, in the Boxer Rebellion in China, and in World War II. At the Olympic games in 1920, the King of Belgium asked for a typical American college yell. The assembled athletes agreed on KU's Rock Chalk and rendered it for His Majesty.

One has to experience the Rock Chalk Chant in person and the best place to do that is in Phog Allen Fieldhouse where the chant has been likened to a Gregorian Chant. What is so special about the Chant is the tone and the cadence in which it is delivered. I have heard the Chant many times at games and it still sends chills down my spine when I experience it during pregame ceremonies.

A wonderful trip with family .. covered ancestral temple at palakkad, moved on to Malampuzha dam, snake park, then to guruvayoor, where we visited the anathavalam elephant reserve, proceeded for a 2:30 Am visit to the temple, travelled to eranakulam for abhishek's thread ceremony, went around kerala's backwaters and finally ended it with a kathakali and kalari performance ...

Ottawa's neighbourhoods are changing rapidly and Hintonburg just west of downtown is no exception. At the corner of Irving and Wellington Street West a very unique condominium has sprung up amongst the shops and row houses. 1000 Wellington Street West was once the site of a car dealership and garage, how things have changed!!
I was taking some photographs of this striking building when I struck up a conversation with a very attractive young woman, who was obviously well versed in the progress of the building.
Let me introduce Chantal, this project has been a major part of her life for the past few years. Chantal works for the developer, Windmill Developments. She has seen this project grow from a hole in the ground to a vibrant new residence in the heart of Hintonburg. Chantal has been in Real Estate for 13 years and was waiting for her clients to show up for a viewing.
I mentioned my strangers project and she was a willing participant, she insisted we take some pictures with the remnants of the construction site included as a reference, not the best of environments, but you do the best you can. In short order her clients arrived, we exchanged information and she was on her way.
Thank you Chantal for allowing me to disrupt your obviously very busy schedule and for all of the insight into this exciting project.
