One of the later sunset shots I took on this evening, one thing I had forgot to do was change my settings from shooting hand held during the day, to be honest I was rather late getting to this spot after being indecisive about where to shoot the sunset. However, I got some shots but had not noticed my ISO was still at 400 doh,I prefer to shoot at 100 or if I can get away with it 50 for the quality and latitude it gives me .
So this is one of a number of compositions I made before it got a bit too dark on our last night in Cornwall, more to come from Cornwall in due course .
The Beagle Channel is located at the southernmost tip of South America. It is graced with beautiful blue waters and many different types of birds. The Upland Geese are a common sight at the park.

There was a squawking in a tree over the road that went on for ages. A young channel-billed cuckoo was waiting for its foster parent to bring it some food, a cicada. It turned out to be a magpie.

The Channel-billed Cuckoo lays its eggs in the nests of other large birds such as the Australian Magpie, the Pied Currawong, and members of the crow family. Unlike many other cuckoos, the young birds do not evict the host's young or eggs from the nest, but simply grow faster and demand all the food, thus starving the others.
They are notorious for calling all night long during the breeding season. This species is sometimes known as the Storm-bird.

Browsing through shots I took the evening I was able to visit this incredible--if crowded--beach, I came across one more I particularly like. I hope you enjoy it!

I was fortunate to capture this Channel-billed Toucan in flight. While focusing on another bird, I caught a brief glimpse of him, just in time to snap the shot.
The Channel-billed Toucan, one of the largest toucans, is about 20 inches long and weighs a tad over a pound. Its diet consists of fruit, insects, and small reptiles. Native to tropical South America, this toucan ranges from northern Colombia and Venezuela to southern Brazil.
Yesterday I rode down to the channel and took a few quick pictures for it was 12° and the wind was coming off Lake Michigan harshly. Here the channel is full of float ice coming in off Lake Michigan.
Hiking in the Narrows is a unique and fun experience in the summertime. The water level can be as high as the waist. And it can be difficult to walk through the slippery rocks underwater. A stick or hiking pole is a must to keep the balance. The part of Wall Street is especially photogenic for the high walls and narrow sections. The water was clear and cool and turned turquoise when it was deeper.

This 120 foot long historic bridge is a rare surviving example of a truss bridge in Michigan. Built in 1930, the design is distinguished by its massive steel members and Parker pony truss configuration.
Looking close, you can see the new bridge in the background slightly above and beyond the old bridge. These bridges are located on Highway 65 just downstream from the Five Channels Dam west of Oscoda, Michigan.

The channel-billed toucan is a near-passerine bird in the family Ramphastidae found on the Caribbean island of Trinidad and in tropical South America as far south as southern Brazil and central Bolivia.
Butchers reservoir was created in 1937. In 1862, gold was discovered in Butchers Gully. There once was a store, butcher's shop and hotel here, back in the gold days... eventually the dam was created and the gully flooded.....
It is said that when the water levels get low, you can still see the chimneystacks under the surface. The water is so clear and glass like, I tried this day to see them. All I saw was reflecting clouds.

The beauty of the 50mm lens (and this AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G is a beautiful lens) is that it clarifies everything to a specific point of view. If you want to increase your field of view, you have to walk backwards. Or in this case you become part of the landscape itself. You can't zoom in, you just have to get in there among the wide grasses on the river bank. For me the highlight was capturing that green channel marker.
