By Channel Pickering Townsley. I love the way he captured the natural dusty coating on the table grapes. Interestingly, in this photo - taken without flash - there is much more light in the image than is apparent with the naked eye.
My sister had this piece for years without knowing it. It was in one of many boxes from our father's house. As sometimes happens with packing crates, the box this piece was in only looked empty. Fortunately, my sister kept the crate.
The next time she moved, she went through the crate and voilà - there it was!
My uncle painted this piece early in his career, when he was still working in the established academic style of the era.
Later on, he painted in an impressionist style.
This view "looks back" (southwestward) toward Picton. The peak at center-left is named Taraukawa (575 m / 1,886 ft).

Weston Super Mare is a seaside resort in North Somerset. It is located on the Bristol Channel, 18 miles south west of Bristol
The Grand Pier is in Weston Super Mare on the Bristol Channel.
Work to build the pier began in 1903, and ended in 1904. An extension was built in 1907, but it was demolished due to the dangerous currents.
The theatre on the pier was destroyed by fire in 1930. The building was bought by Leonard Guy, who later sold it in 1946 to Mr A Brenner, who went on to improve the piers facilities. An amusement arcade and shops were added to the pavilion by the early 1970s.
Due to the investment, it was granted Grade II listed status in 1974. Brenner still owned the pier by 2008, when he sold it to brother and sister partnership Kerry and Michelle Michael. A fire broke out in July 2008. It is hoped that the pier can be repaired by creating a new pavilion by July 2010.

Muay Thai (Thai boxing) is Thailand’s national sport. Thai boxing isn’t just about fighting, it’s also about ritual, ceremony and respect.
It’s widely believed that the modern form of Muay Thai traces its roots back to a form of unarmed combat performed by Siamese soldiers.
Much of the tradition from ancient times still remains intact, particularly in the pre-fight ceremonies and the adornments each fighter wears when entering the ring.
The modern day Muay Thai fighter enters the ring cotton armbands known as prajiad around the biceps and a sacred cotton headband, known as mongkhon.
At a traditional Muay Thai fight, each match is preceded by a ceremonial dance known as the Wai Kru Ram Muay (typically shortened as Wai Kru) which is a homage to one’s teacher, parents and/or the King.
In Thai boxing, any part of the body, except for the head, can be used to attack an opponent. The target area is any part of the body, except for the groin. Fighters wear boxing gloves, but it is often kicks or elbows to the head which result in knock-outs. Bouts normally consist of 5 rounds. Each round lasts 3 minutes with a 2 minute rest between each round.
Muay Thai can be seen at Rajadamnern Stadium, Lumpinee Stadium, Channel 7 Stadium or outside the MBK shopping centre.

In the 1890s the competition between the 'London and South Western' and 'the Great Western' railway companies was heating up. The route across the Channel to the Channel Islands became the main battleground, with the ships openly racing each other to get their passengers ashore first. A number of issues were reported (with the Captains generally claiming they were "racing the tide") but generally this competition was seen as exciting and a newspaper article in the Guernsey Star reports on a race between the Ibex (Great Western) and the Frederica (London and South Western) as if it were a sporting event. "The Frederica, skirting near the rocks and crossing the Ibex's bows, beat the latter, after a grand race, by one minute and a half at the pier heads."
The Stella was one of three steamers put into service in 1890 by London and South Western specifically for speed; the company's advertising focused on best crossing times. By 1899, however, there had been at least one accident due to the competition (the Ibex struck a ledge going full-speed 40 feet from the Frederica) which led to an inquiry and the Captains certificate being suspended for six months. A sensible concern regarding the racing is beginning to arise and the two railway companies were "making tentative efforts to call a halt".
However, the 'Easter run', the first daylight runs of the season, whetted interest in the best crossing times and spirits were high with special low fares offered for the holiday.
The Stella departed on March 30th under the command of a seasoned Captain within this context: a priority of getting the ship and her passengers to the Channel Islands as quickly as possible.
The ship met rail passengers from Waterloo at Southampton and then began the trip to Guernsey and Jersey with 217 on board. The weather was sunny and clear when they departed Southampton and continued to be fine as they passed the Isle of Wight. Shortly after passing the Needles, a thick fog began to form. The captain slowed to half-speed until they cleared the fog and then resumed his initial speed of 18 knots.
Shortly thereafter the fog descended around the Stella again but the Captain kept the ship at 18 knots. The Captain and various crew members, including the first officer, remained on the bridge, with a seaman sounding the fog whistle. At this point, the Captain and crew seemed to believe they were still half an hour away from the Casquets: a dangerous reef with three lighthouses placed upon it which was used as a standard visual turning point for the route to Guernsey.
It is unclear how the Stella had managed to veer off her course but at this stage she is still travelling at 18 knots in heavy fog. 'The Wreck of the Stella' by John Ovendon and David Shayer gives the following chilling account of Captain Reeks final moments:
"At 4pm three things happened simultaneously. Reeks heard -- and the sound must have made the hair stand on his neck -- a fog-horn blast of immense power from directly above his head; Hartup in the bow yelled 'Stop her' and ran back along the deck covering his head with his forearm; and at the same moment the men on the bridge and a handful of passengers on the deck saw, 'as though a door had suddenly opened', an immense rock loom out of the fog 80 yards directly ahead, towering over the ship."
The Captain tried evasive action but it was too late and the Stella was going too fast. The dangerous shoals of the Casquets tore out the bottom of her hull. The fog was such that the keepers of the lighthouse never saw a thing.
Within 8 minutes the ship had sunk. 105 passengers and crew died in in the worst disaster in the history of the Channel Islands' mail steamers.

El canal Beagle, canal de Beagle o canal Onashaga es un canal, estrecho o paso marítimo localizado en el extremo meridional de América del Sur, que corre aproximadamente unos kilómetros al norte del paralelo 55° sur, entre los meridianos 71° y 66° oeste. Se extiende aproximadamente 200 millas a lo largo de la costa sur de la isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, desde su unión con el canal Cockburn en la entrada occidental hasta el cabo San Pío en su extremo oriental, separando la isla Grande de las islas del sur y sureste del archipiélago fueguino.

Administrativamente, el sector argentino pertenece al departamento Ushuaia de la provincia de Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur, mientras que el sector chileno pertenece a la comuna de Cabo de Hornos de la provincia de la Antártica Chilena que forma parte de la región de Magallanes y de la Antártica Chilena. El sector occidental del canal se ubica dentro del parque nacional Alberto de Agostini.

O estreito de Beagle (ou canal de Beagle) é um estreito separando as ilhas do arquipélago da Terra do Fogo, no extremo sul da América do Sul.
Além de ligar o oceano Atlântico ao oceano Pacífico, ele separa a Ilha Grande da Terra do Fogo de diversas pequenas ilhas ao sul. Sua parte oriental marca a fronteira entre o Chile e a Argentina, mas sua parte ocidental pertence ao Chile.
O estreito de Beagle tem aproximadamente 240 km de comprimento, e sua largura mínima é de cerca de 5 km. A oeste, comunica com o oceano Pacífico pelo canal de Darwin. Apesar de ele ser navegável por grandes navios, existem outras rotas marítimas mais seguras a sul (passagem de Drake) e a norte (estreito de Magalhães). Beagle Channel (Spanish: Canal Beagle) is a strait in Tierra del Fuego Archipelago on the extreme southern tip of South America partly in Chile and partly in Argentina. The channel separates the larger main island of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego from various smaller islands including the islands of Picton, Lennox and Nueva; Navarino; Hoste; Londonderry; and Stewart. The channel's eastern area forms part of the border between Chile and Argentina and the western area is entirely within Chile.
The Beagle Channel, the Straits of Magellan to the north, and the open-ocean Drake Passage to the south are the three navigable passages around South America between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Since the Beagle Channel and the Straits of Magellan are both very narrow passages which severely limit the size and types of ships that can safely use them, most commercial shipping uses the Drake Passage.
The Beagle Channel is about 240 kilometres (130 nmi; 150 mi) long and is about 5 kilometres (3 nmi; 3 mi) wide at its narrowest point. It extends from Nueva Island in the east to Darwin Sound and Cook Bay in the west. Some 50 kilometres (27 nmi; 31 mi) from its western end it divides into two branches, north and south of Gordon Island. The southwest branch, between Hoste Island and Gordon Island, enters Cook Bay, a bay of the Pacific Ocean. The northwest branch, between Gordon Island and Isla Grande, enters Darwin Sound, which connects to the Pacific Ocean by the O'Brien Channel and the Ballenero Channel. The biggest settlement on the channel is Ushuaia in Argentina, followed by Puerto Williams in Chile, two of the southernmost settlements of the world

Saudi TV Channel rebrand for Turquoise
Rushes created 3 x 45 second idents to launch the new look Channel One for Saudi TV. The idents comprise a blend of a vision for the country’s future whilst integrating their national culture and heritage.
The design embraces religious sensitivities and shows the national television network’s commitment to change Andy Hargreaves, 3D Supervisor on the project attended the shoot in Dubai.
Substantial pre-vis and development work assisted the creative team to realise their vision of a new Saudi Arabia. Matt Lawrence, MGFX Artist at Rushes, created animated floor textures, backgrounds and interface animations for all three idents which were integrated into the 3D renders.
Matt helped with final composites due to the tight turnaround in After Effects comping several shots on the technology sequence.

In Ivan Morales Lee Haskins meets a ferocious and determined opponent who also happens to be the younger brother of the legendary former four-weight world champion Erik Morales.
Asked of his thoughts on Ivan Morales’ lineage Haskins remarked, “I might ask for a photo with Erik Morales before the fight, before I beat his brother!”
“Ivan Morales is from Mexican boxing royalty and Lee cannot afford to take this fight lightly,” said Barry McGuigan. “Morales is a proud Mexican boxer who will be heading to Cardiff intent on ripping that belt from Lee Haskins on May 14. The younger Morales is desperate to add another world title belt to the vast family collection.

This is a family dedicated channel to our beloved big lad Benji
We got Benji in 2007 when he was 4 years old as the owner was suffering from an illness and was no longer capable of looking after him
We got him on the 21st may 2007 so we used that date to celebrate his birthday
When Benji came to live with us he was a very independant lad and was always the boss especially over my two young sons and he stamped his authority quite quickly
He did test us at the beginning but soon knew that living here with us he was going to get nothing more than love and attention and he got that in abundance
He loved his home comforts as he would often take over the settee and would declare that space as his own
I myself have had health issues and Benji would always pop his head up to see if everything was alright with me and i would do the same with him everynight
We nearly lost Benji in 2013/2014 when we discovered a small lump on his groin and the vet at the time told us it was just a fatty lump and just ignore it
We knew something was not right and advised the vet that we wanted it removed and we would pay for the operation
We booked him in 2 weeks after that appointment and when we got him to the PDSA they told us that it was a good job that we ignored her colleagues advice and decided to go for the operation as it saved his life as this so called fatty lump was actually a growth that was cutting off his blood vessel, The operation was a success and it extended our time with Benji
There was times that we questioned some of the vets advice as for when we kept asking about all the lumps that was appearing on his body and again we were told that they were just fatty lumps
Over the past couple of years we were concerned of a few lumps under his chest and a few that would appear around his ribs etc and again we were told to ignore them as they were fatty lumps
Well those lumps turned out to be cancer and cost our baby boy his life as his liver had also became very enlarged and we had to make a decssion if we wanted to die in agony as we were informed or for the vet to give him that terrible injection
We took him home for a day so that he could say his goodbyes to my sons and we stayed awake with him all night
The following morning we gave him his favourite a tin of tuna and he had a good drink of water and at 10:15am on September 1st 2017 Benji was put to sleep
My wife held him in her arms as i cuddled his head and kept him from seeing the needles and he dropped into his deep sleep forever
The vet that dealt with Benji on his final moment was a wonderful and caring vet and we thank her from the bottom of our hearts for all she done
We love you Benji and we will walk together again one day soon
