Cydcor's Operation Smile medical mission diary: Today marked the end of two screening days. Approximately 250 screenings took place to make sure candidates were healthy enough for the procedure. People came from near and far - some traveling as long as 28 hours by bus and 7 hours on foot. The dedicated team from Operation Smile, medical and other volunteers, including the team from Cydcor and the field, got down to business. Today, many kids had a surgery that will change their lives forever. Our volunteers got to experience first hand the surgery process. Jacile, one of our volunteers shared "Gained a TON of respect and admiration for doctors, surgeons, nurses and all those who work tirelessly to heal and help us in ways we cannot help ourselves. I see life through a different lens after today, our problems are blessings compared to what others have to endure. This sweetheart's name is Maria, and after today she will never have to experience shame or pain for being born with a cleft lip." This is what motivates our team to support this great charity.
