Attached are some pictures of our Change the World Day we held on April 30th

at our Community Park. It was a combined effort of West Independence, East

Mt. Zion, Vanlue Christ, and Arcadia UMC's. We held a Mobile Food Pantry

distributing 10,000 pounds of food to 152 families in our area! This was a

first time event but we have another scheduled for September 17, 2011.

Thanks for offering this event to local churches!

Grace and Peace!

Change the World weekend- 2011

Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church- Brunswick Ohio

Our small Church stood strong with other United Methodist Churches around the globe! as we all united with a common purpose to improve lives and help communities.

This was our second year to participate.

Our focus to Change the World was to support our local food pantry. We had two ways to participate.

First, we asked everyone to donate a can of food as a symbol and call to action to Change the World .

Second, Our youth group ran a LemonAID stand after our worship service on Sunday to help " put the Squeeze" on Hunger and they raised $137 dollars for the food pantry.

Here are some photos from the weekend.

Blessings,

Debbie Petcher- Change the World Committee

Had a great meeting on Aug. 15, at the Kapolei The Coffee Bean and Tealeaf with RiceUp for Filipino Farmers Student Group from Brigham Young University-Hawaii about the future of farming in Hawai‘i and how they can get more involved. I enjoyed talking story and sharing some of my adventures with these young minds who are enthusiastic about changing the world. 🌎👍👊

During IHE's Summer Institute, each student gives a 20-minute presentation on a humane education topic or issue. Sarah read the group a story while they decorated a globe with their visions of the future they want for people, animals, and the planet.

Hillsboro United Methodist Church performed several service projects in our local community on Change The World Day-Sat, May 14th. It was a cold, windy day, but we had 25 volunteers painting at the park, cleaning windows at the public library, playing bingo with nursing home residents, laying concrete and cleaning the play area at the food bank and delivering candy 'survival kits to our local police and fire departments.
