What an Epic Climb and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We reached the top of the African Continent, Kilimanjaro, the highest freestanding mountain at 5895 meters.

I want to thank Johan Ernst Nilson, who organized and safely guided the team to the top and back to base camp.

Thank you, Johan!

After the volunteers have been up on the crate in their bare feet for awhile, Zoe asks them some questions, such as how long they'd like to stay there....a year, perhaps?

Change the World, May 14, 2011. Change the World - Elizabeth Grindstaff, age 28, (in green t-shirt) visits 94 year old Mattie B. Reeves through the Change the World activities of Franklin First United Methodist Church. Grindstaff, a teacher at Independence High School, brought students with her to help with chores and to meet "Miss Maddie." During the summer Grindstaff brings Reeves MEALS ON WHEELS, but today she brought lunch and made biscuits in Miss Maddie's kitchen. A UMNS photo by Kathleen Barry.

This was such a lovely tea label to get on a sick day. :) It's now stuck to my mirror.

Zoe explains the 4 elements of humane education and how they are relevant to people wanting to help create a better world and find inner peace for themselves.

One of the most challenging aspects of sharing what we're passionate about is communicating with others compassionately. Small groups took time to practice talking about the issues that resonate with them and to get feedback from others.

Hillsboro United Methodist Church performed several service projects in our local community on Change The World Day-Sat, May 14th. It was a cold, windy day, but we had 25 volunteers painting at the park, cleaning windows at the public library, playing bingo with nursing home residents, laying concrete and cleaning the play area at the food bank and delivering candy 'survival kits to our local police and fire departments.
