I don't think that I can get this frame everyday ; that day at that time , cloud and sun created this light and I was just lucky to pass by. Driver of my car was very sure that he was driving around a nut case ; I requested him to stop by a dusty bend because beneath my feet it was heaven.
Himachal is a land blessed by God ! Here people are comparatively well off than most of India ( specially eastern india ). Apple & other fruit orchard ; possibility of year round cultivation of Potato , Cabbage, Cauliflower, Broccoli .... proximity to cash rich market like Chandigar & Delhi ... is giving people healthy income. If only they could resisted the onslaught of Hydro Electric business !!

Where it is not mentioned we travelled by bus, other transport was mainly train (more on the return trip), sometimes we hitch hiked with trucks, foreign tourists.
The drawing made in October 1975 is not totally correct. In India we did Delhi - Gorakhpur - Butwal - Pokhara, and on the return trip it went like: Raxaul - Muzafapur - Varanasi - Delhi - (straight by train) to Amritsar.
In Turkey too the way to was different from the way back, First we did Istanbul - Erzincan - Erzurum - Dogubayazit; back we did Dogubayazit - Trabzon (on the Black Sea) - Corum - Istanbul.
At a stop on the M1 we stopped for diesel. There was a small repair shop on the side of the petrol station and the mechanic quickly patched our leaking power steering in an hour. It was a temporary fix, but as it cost only 18€ with a full bottle of powersteering oil, we tought that it would be a smart move!

We arrived into a friends home in Chandigar India and were truly relieved as Pakistan (and the fear we had felt there) was now behind us!

We were just driving thru India as fast as possible, as we knew that we would come with more time on the way back.

The Peshawar - Islamabad - Lahore motorway is one of the best we have seen in the world. Not only is it in perfect condition, but it is also almost empty and our car drove at 120-130km/h the whole way. It was our first time over 70km/h in 4 days.

From Chandigar we left a little bit too late towards Meerut and were forced to drive in the dark. Not a very pleasant thing to do in India.

We passed thru customs and into India. Just to give you an idea of the only land border between India and Pakistan, we were the 248 car to pass it in 2012, and we were there in late August. Locals are not allowed to pass it with their own car. The whole customs station let only under 20 000 people thru in a year, eventhough Pakistan and India have almost 1.4 billion inhabitants combined. Not exactly the most loving relationship between them.

Parwanoo is a city and a municipal council in Solan district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is an industrial town. It borders Panchkula district of Haryana, and is after the towns of Pinjore and Kalka on the Chandigarh Simla Highway. In fact it is separated by a river bed from the town of Kalka. Pinjore to Parwanoo is almost a continuous urban belt.

The water was brown and green and caked with moss and other things that
gather in standing water.
I assumed this sign was left as a joke where a drinking water fountain once stood. Either way it amused me.

Chandigar is a modern city that contains this remarkable museum of figures made with ceramtic tiles and stones recovered from the construction of the city.
