Morcote is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Ticino situated about 10 kilometres from Lugano in the district of Lugano on the shore of Lake Lugano.
With its characteristic small alleys, the arcades of old Patrician homes, valuable architectural monuments and its natural beauty, the lakefront position, Morcote is considered "the Pearl of Ceresio".
The Chapel of S. Antonio Abate with its monumental staircase, the Parish Church of S. Maria del Sasso with Oratory, the Cimitero monumentale (Cemetery) and Scherrer Park are listed as Swiss heritage site of national significance. The entire village of Morcote is part of the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites.

🇫🇷 Géographiquement situé à une altitude de 197 m entre la plaine du Pô et les Alpes, le lac de Côme a été formé il y a plus d'un million huit cent mille ans, par la fonte d'un immense glacier qui s'étendait jusqu'aux frontières de la Brianza. Le glacier Abduano à l'origine du lac est descendu de la Valtellina et de la Valchiavenna, s'étendant avec deux grandes langues vers la vallée du Pô ; à Menaggio, il se ramifia vers le Ceresio, créant une faille appelée ligne Menaggio en géologie, créant dans cette fracture la vallée du même nom, le lac de Côme à l'est et le lac de Lugano à l'ouest.

I was very lucky to live there in the first years of our engagement and the magic of that place certainly contributed to giving the couple an excellent start to our life together; we hold that bucolic village close to our hearts;

Così è chiamato il Lago di Lugano. Questa panoramica l'ho scattata dal giardino di Villa Fogazzaro Roi, dimora dello scrittore e poeta Antonio Fogazzaro, ora bene del FAI grazie alla donazione effettuata dal suo trisnipote marchese Giuseppe Roi, ultimo erede.
In questo luogo è ambientato il capolavoro dello scrittore "Piccolo Mondo Antico".
