Startled at first to see her own image, she then paused and reflected on her own reflection, deciding, "This is a very fine reflection of a cat!".

All my inanimate subjects take on human qualities as I fiddle with camera controls, lighting, and compositional elements.
This porcelain lady deserves her title, "Lady-in-Waiting." But there are actually two ladies-in-waiting.
The bokeh-ed lady in the background is a Gibson Girl featured on an old Coca Cola tin serving plate.

💜 Austin Powers Said That Love Is The Strongest Power 💕
In this idea I used old ceramic toy / vintage figurines made in France (brand Monsieur le Valier) and I used the same candy from previous photos, the day before I accidently realise that I can make a heart from the candy if I put it in different position ;D. Toy look little dirty at some parts, it is very old so I didn't clean it with detergent, I am afraid to damage it.
I remember Austion Powers a little from childhood so I use his name for my new photo title.
I decide to share with you a rare non album song, I think it can fit good in this idea.

Tai Chi cultives both body and mind to restore and maintain good health. In Chinese philosophy and medicine there exists the concept of 'chi', a vital force that animates the body. One of the avowed aims of Tai Chi is to foster the circulation of this 'chi' within the body, the belief being that by doing so the health and vitality of the person are enhanced.
I guess this is a companion to go with the castle photo I posted a few days ago. Again, this is a small ceramic figurine. (This time the rocky beach is a shot I took during a vacation in Huatulco.)

Just playing with my new Canon 50D, a totally entertaining f/1.8 lens, and a roaring fire.
I have a number of pretty ceramic figurines. I chose this one who reminds me of Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
I threw some chemically-treated pinecones on the fire, set the camera to full manual, and began to experiment.
This one is my favorite of the lot. Hope it heats up your night, too.

Set of small, ceramic sumo wrestlers given by a friend, who remembered that I liked the huge sumo wrestler sculpture in one of the train stations in Tokyo. Very funny poses. They really are huge in person (saw a few in Mongolia), their fat bouncing when they move.

Hand painted ceramic figurine with bushy tail made of straw. Someone didn't want it so they took to Kent Recycle Center and it can be yours free!
Every year at Christmas... we put up a small 'winter village' scene... complete with the fake cotton snow, a few buildings and trees and people. Cheesy you say? Well... perhaps. =) But on a late December afternoon / early evening... alongside the glow of the tree... 'cheese' turns into complete charm!
This moment was from last year... and it all is shortly to be set up to work it's holiday magic yet again this year.
Soon. Very soon.

A commemorative figurine of DANIEL LAMBERT (1770-1809). This ceramic figure is hand-painted, about 10" in height and is quite heavy at 1.335 kg.
At the time of his death in 1809, Daniel Lambert of Leicester was famed as the recorded heaviest man to have lived in Britain. Besides his size, Daniel was also renowned as an expert in sporting and fighting animals as well as having an affable personality, wit and intelligence. He was astounded people for his strength, flexibility, stamina despite his size. In 1806 he moved to London where his fame spread further and made a considerable sum of money by exhibiting himself and arranging one-on-one meetings at his lodgings for a considerable fee. At the end of 1806 he returned to Leicester, where he lived for the rest of his life. On the 21st June 1809 while visiting Stamford during a fund-raising tour, Daniel had complained of shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing and passed away that morning. Although no autopsy was known to have been carried out on him, it is generally believed the cause of death was likely a pulmonary embolism. He was an exceptionally tall man for his time, standing at 5’ 11” and after his death (aged 39) was weighed and found to have been 52 stone 11 pounds (739 lbs / 335 kg).
Daniel Lambert’s legacy and fame had achieved a cult status in his hometown of Leicester and at Stamford too. His personal artefacts were preserved for posterity and many of these survive in museums to this day. Throughout Leicestershire, many pubs were named after him and commemorative souvenirs of him were made and sold to the public. This figurine is one form of Daniel Lambert commemorative ware and which were also made well into the 20th century, but earlier 19th century versions are much scarcer and quite pricey. This one may be a 20th century version dating to around the 1950’s or a bit later.

This is a traditional 'ni ren' from Tianjin, and the 福 (fu) character on his lantern can be variously translated as happiness, good fortune, blessings and luck. Children and the colour red are also some of the most important Chinese symbols of luck, so all together maybe this will help to get Flickr unblocked ;-). See the whole figurine here. (No saturation.)
