CSS SD38-2 805 makes its way West down the center of 11th Street in Michigan City, IN in the golden hour. As of yesterday all three traffic lights are out of service, the street is completely shuttered and the Westbound lane of 11th has already been removed between the East end and the West side of the S-Curve. It truly is the end of a era for one of the staples of the region.

My goal was to have a very small point of focus...the glass-like tips in the center of the flower.

Une compo pas courante, mais j'ai voulu essayer de couper l'image en 2 parties égales avec 2 élements principaux, et la pierre pour lier les 2.

This is the classic case of being in the wrong spot at the right time..... We were at some friends house for dinner in La Center, WA and I could see the clouds starting to build and I figured the sunset was gonna be good, but I had no idea it was gonna be this good....I decided to take off for the Wetlands near the edge of town and see if I could get a good shot of Mount Hood..well the mountain is much better seen from the road which is higher up. I ran up and down this gravel road/walkway as the sky just went off with some of the best color I have seen this year.....I tried to get down near the water but the sticker bushes wouldn't let me....I was wearing shorts and tee shirt.... so this was the best comp I could come up with.....

What I really liked about this was the way the cloud seems to be opening up....

And I am wondering if it would be better to crop out that branch on the left side....Thanks!!!!

Happy Hump Day!!!

Center of a 5 petal white flower (not a rose) - made me think of a sun surrounded by planets. What you think of while taking photographs LOL !

On Boxing Day we paid a visit to the Baytown Nature Center to see what birds we could find. This area is ust on the east side of Galveston Bay across from Houston, TX, near Baytown, Texas This is a Roseate Spoonbill caught flying across a pond/marsh.

Now that most of them are gone I can safely testify that many of my teachers lived as long as they did as they had high hopes of visiting my grave.

Looking back at my school days, it was a wonder none of them served a term in prison for facilitating the disappearance of one of their most troublesome students.

Some people rise in life to a point where they command attention by the knowledge of a subject or a method that profits people. Others take a different route and simply are the center of attention because they are disruptive. Unfortunately, we live in a world now where that type of person garners headlines and are a lot more dangerous than red-headed students who were bored in school when they were young.

These bald eagles were pretty intent on making me the center of attention to see what my next moves might be in the early morning sunlight.

To raise new questions, new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination and marks real advance in science.

I found this Northern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix mokasen) sitting in a small alcove of a stump. As I pulled out my camera, the sun peaked out from behind the clouds and canopy cover, sending a beam of light down to illuminate this little guy. Love it when nature gets creative with light :)

I previously shot this back in the summer. But, this is a more fitting setting.

Brooklin, Maine

Down on one remote tip on the Blue Hill Penninsula, world class yachts are built at the Brooklin Boatyard. Screaming saws and hammering counterpointed this serene view off the docks out into the Eggemoggin Reach, where sparkling white hulls were a welcome sight after several days of overcast and rain.

Eindhoven is a city in the Netherlands that has taken steps to reduce car traffic in its city center. The city center is largely car-free and small enough to get around on foot. The city also offers various options for parking outside the center, such as P+R (Park and Ride) facilities, and public charging points for electric vehicles. The city aims to promote sustainable mobility and improve the quality of life for its residents and visitors by limiting the use of cars in the city center.

Beautiful building! The limestone façade and typical Baroque ornamentation are not typical for any Islamic center.
