Centaurea scabiosa - belongs to the Asteraceae family, is a common plant that originates in Asia - Europe.
The plant grows in fields, prairies at altitudes between 300-2000 meters above sea level. Its flowering period is between the months of June-August.
The plant has medicinal properties and can be used as a diaphoretic, diuretic, tonic, vulnerary.
A rather pretty flower, in deep purple/blue tones, which seems to thrive in our garden. Yes thats about as far as I've got recently.
I've been hoping to get out with the camera for the past few weeks. Plans however always seem to get broken, with other commitments taking priority.
Cornflower
Not 100% sure of this id or specific type. Flowers are about 3-4cm on a stalk ~35cm. Any guesses?
Possibly Tyrol Knapweed, Centaurea Stoebe, or Spotted Knapweed.
