Officials attended the grand opening of the U.S. Census 2020 Laredo Office on Thursday, October 10, 2019. Officials in attendance included U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28), Mayor Pro Tempore Roberto Balli (District 8), Webb County Commissioner for Precinct 2 and Chair of the Laredo-Webb Census 2020 Complete Count Committee Rosaura "Wawi" Tijerina, Laredo Chamber of Commerce President Miguel Conchas, the Most Revered Bishop James Tamayo and U.S. Census Assistant Regional Manager Jesus A. Avina.

Weston Mayor Daniel Stermer along with City Commissioners Thomas Kallman, Margaret Brown, Byron Jaffe and Mary Molina-Macfie urge residents to BE COUNTED. Census data is used to distribute over $700 billion dollars annually in federal funding for the next 10 years for vital programs for transportation, healthcare, education, emergency assistance and housing.

A crew from the City The Birmingham helps BPL workers hang a 19 feet by 8 feet Birmingham Counts! 2020 Census banner on the crosswalk connecting the Central Library East Building to Linn-Henley Research Library on Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. between Park Place and 7th Avenue North today, BPL was awarded a grant by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Development (ADECA) to help fund our Birmingham Counts! campaign, which is aimed at encouraging residents in the city to complete the questionnaire for the 2020 Census.
