Complete the Census!

Once a decade, every household in the U.S. is asked to complete nine questions that show the demographics of each household. Yet, these nine questions do not always reflect who our communities are and what our communities need to thrive.

As we set a path towards an equitable future that meets the demands of racial justice, we want to hear from you!

️ Tell us in the comments : What do you wish the census captured? What questions do you wish it asked instead? 💭 Follow this campaign to see how your answers and declarations inform posters created by Paola de la Calle that you will soon see around the city!

Complete the Census!

Census results inform how federal funding is invested in local communities each year for the next decade for funding such as healthcare, education, food security, affordable housing, transportation, foster care, and so much more. COVID-19 has only emphasized the lack of investment in our communities. The calls for racial justice by the Movement for Black Lives have specifically demanded investment in community development programs and restorative justice services. Completing the Census is a step towards securing funding that can positively impact our communities.

We call on the community to answer this question: What does our future look, sound, smell, taste, or feel like? Your declarations will inform future posters designed by Paola de la Calle that will be distributed throughout our neighborhoods. Share your declarations in the comments below!
