66768 rounds the bend at Standish Junction working 6V35 Clitheroe to Avonmouth cement tanks, Having had a few days of very mixed weather including overcast with sunny spells Monday - Wednesday, heavy rain Thursday, and sunny Friday morning with temps 15-20 deg c, Gloucestershire was completely different with temps in the mid twenties, my car thermometer suggested 35. The locals had left by the previous freight, but the sun had just about held on the tracks. Pretty much the last shot of the week on the way back to Sheffield.
I am sure this image has been taken about a googolplex of times, but I could not help myself… the symmetry simply called to me.
It's Good Friday, and the colours of Spring have arrived. 66706 works 6M42, the 12.35 Avonmouth Hanson Sdg Gbrf to Penyffordd Cement Gbrf through Condover, north of Dorrington, on The Marches Line, 7.4.23

Cement trucks are already loading up at the Boral depot to take their load out for the first concrete pour of the morning.
66707 climbs the bank out of Gobowen through Grimpo with 6V41, the 17.08 Penyffordd Cement to Avonmouth Hanson Siding loaded cement. Taken from the footpath crossing the field, and pretty much directly into the sun on a lovely early June evening, Tuesday 8.6.21.
2021 represents a significant milestone in the history of the Phoenix Railway-Photographic Circle with the celebration of our 50th anniversary by publishing a book to showcase some of the members work, past and present, from 1971 to the present day.
The book contains 14 chapters and 144 pages of photographs depicting the work of over 50 accomplished railway photographers with many differing styles and approaches. It takes an alternative view on photographing the railway scene over the past 50 years.
The book, called 50 Years of Phoenix is now available – click on this link to view a selected part of the book, and perhaps even order a copy: www.mortonsbooks.co.uk/product/view/productCode/15554
Also, why not take a look at the PRPC web site at www.phoenix-rpc.co.uk/index.html.
I can't believe that, for thefirst time in nine years, I forgot to post an image this morning. I remembered to comment, so I still want credit (like when I handed in a paper just before the deadline).
I love the Black Phoebes. Their behavior is that of other flycatchers, leaving their perches to catch a fly on the wing, and then returning to thevery sameperch. How could a photographer not love them! Focus on the perch, and wait until it returns.
The black phoebe (Sayornis nigricans) is a passerine bird in the tyrant-flycatcher family. It breeds from southwest Oregon and California south through Central and South America. It occurs year-round throughout most of its range and migrates less than the other birds in its genus, though its northern populations are partially migratory. Six subspecies are commonly recognized, although two are occasionally combined as a separate species, the white-winged phoebe.
The black phoebe has predominantly black plumage, with a white belly and undertail coverts. The sexes are identical in color, and juveniles have brown feather tips and brown wing-bars. Its song is a repeated tee-hee, tee ho. It lives in a variety of habitats but is always near water. It is mainly insectivorous and waits on a perch before sallying out and catching its prey in the air. It makes an open cup nest which is placed under a cliff or a bridge and cemented in its place with mud.
The Ketton Cement empties ran today, so I went to Wistow Road Bridge to see it
