Whether or not to get a ceiling fan probably took 4 days of discussions over 3 years. Remember the big ice storm? That's when we shopped for them the first time. We decided against all of them, Noah found this one on Ebay and its not so bad.

There's no fan up there but he wishes there was.

He loves ceiling fans and water towers so I decorated this shirt for him.

October 26, 2021 - Columbus Landmarks Foundation's Building Arts Studio at Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center

"We are proud to announce an innovative, new program at Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center: Columbus Landmarks Building Arts Studio. Fort Hayes is part of Columbus City Schools and includes an Arts & Academic High School and Career Center on the historic 1862 military campus near downtown Columbus.

Working with students enrolled in Fort Hayes’ Construction Management Program, the Building Arts Studio brings hands-on preservation education and training to the curriculum, preparing students for careers in the high-demand historic building trades. The classes take place in the c1890s gatehouse located at the main entrance of the Fort Hayes campus on Jack Gibbs Boulevard. Students will make headway on the restoration and rehabilitation of this visible, campus gateway that has been vacant for decades.

The Building Arts Studio is made possible from a generous $50,000 program grant recently awarded to Columbus Landmarks from the Ann Sherry Foundation, which funds innovation in public education; and from annual operating support from the Greater Columbus Arts Council.

We are honored to embark on this unique public education opportunity not available anywhere else in U.S. Our goal is to create a knowledgeable and skilled workforce to meet local demand while improving the Fort Hayes campus for future generations." This is actually a really bright light. I could have turned down the ISO more, but it was hurting my eyes at this point and I didn't think to do too much ... ha. Interesting effect to me, especially since I used almost no Photoshop to get this. (Just a little very minor tweaking.)

The old bank, today a loan office, closed on weekends, shot through the window. There is a ghostly writing showing on the back wall...service? prices?

Noisy, but you all told me noise is ok. ;)

Java Girl is a neighborhood coffee house which gets rave reviews from the regulars: "...the clientelle ranges from the sanitation guys who come in after their routes, to musicians and artists, to scientists from the local hospitals". There is much for the eye to study in this cafe, and eventually I came to notice the ceiling adornments. Growing-up watching the British TV series, "Secret Agent", (also called "Danger Man" in the U.K.), my brothers and I began to call this type of ceiling fan a "Secret Agent fan", due to their ubiquitous appearances in each episode, often dangling above sweaty rooms, in dangerous, fictitious, emerging African nations. 348 East 66th Street, (between 1st Ave & 2nd Ave), New York, New York; June, 2005; Nikon FM2, Kodak T-Max 400, pushed to 800 ASA.

This ceiling fan is in our bedroom which has a vague Moroccan theme. There are red walls with a dark brown colorwash and purple, red and gold curtains, rugs and pillows.

We use this fan a lot in the summer, so I don't want to get rid of it, but I'd like to change it somehow. Hmmmm.

As an incorrigible Frenchy I pronounce "fan" (ceiling fan) the same way as "fun" (having fun).

This is a scene from my living room the day my niece graduated from high school. I decided to throw her a surprise post-graduation party at my apartment - she was surprised and grateful. Next month, she's on her way to college!

We walked all the way down Orchard Road, then headed for Raffles Hotel. It is compulsory to see the iconic Raffles Hotel, and to sample their Singapore Sling cocktails in the Long Bar.

Jeremy SIngleton and I did our first room set up in his living room. We were mainly playing with lighting in this shot. We set out about five seperate bulbs around the room, behind the furniture, and walls. The finished product turned out pretty good but please comment and give me feedback.

After removing the old fan, we realized that the junction box was not ready to hold a new fixture, and with no knowledge of what the box was (or wasn't) mounted to, we decided to bypass it when securing the fixture mount bracket. With advice from our Menard's guy, we came up with this plan, which was a success in the end. We are lucky to have the crawl space to work from the top.

I should note also that this illustration is not accurate, as the placement of the 2 bolts is shown off by 90 degrees. Where the bolts are shown to come thru the attic floor boards in a line parallel to those boards, the line of bolts is in actuality perpendicular to the boards such that each bolt comes up into a different floor board.

To all those mounting a new fan into the ceiling with junction box unknown, I wish you luck.
