From Cornell:
The Osprey is the only hawk on the continent that eats almost exclusively live fish. In North America, more than 80 species of live fresh- and saltwater fish account for 99 percent of the Osprey’s diet. Captured fish usually measure about 6–13 inches in length and weigh one-third to two-thirds of a pound. The largest catch on record weighed about 2.5 pounds. On very rare occasions, Ospreys have been observed feeding on fish carcasses or on birds, snakes, voles, squirrels, muskrats, and salamanders. Ospreys probably get most of the water they need from the flesh of their prey, although there are reports of adults drinking on hot days.
Photographed at the Stuart Causeway perched on a lamp pole that illuminates the roadway.
Early morning light floods the archway of trees at Levers Causeway on The Wirral. Another fav dog walking place.
The causeway stretches on for about a mile. Way in the horizon you can make out Wood End light, which I've explored before.
Photo was taken shortly before sunset. Best viewed in large.

Milky Way over St Michael's Mount. This is a shot I've wanted to have another go at for a while now. The conditions and the tide were just about right on Monday night.
Sky tracked and blended with the foreground at the same exposure.
The Giant's Causeway, renowned for its polygonal columns of layered basalt, resulting from a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago, this is the focal point of a designated Area of Outstanding
This is where the Miners' Track crosses Llyn Llydaw via the causeway that was built in 1853 for the Brittannia Copper Mine.
From here on the Miners' Track is broad and easy, and we got back to our starting point quite fast.
Another take of the Giants Causeway. I never get bored looking at this natural wonder along the Antrim coast
The causeway at Island Hill at the edge of Strangford Lough, County Down, Northern Ireland.
I like the way the light bounced off the concrete causeway here. Not the most balanced composition but I like it. That's Ronnie Mills in the distance - look him up here on Flickr!
The Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. It is also known as Clochán an Aifir or Clochán na bhFomhórach in Irish and tha Giant's Causey in Ulster-Scots
An early start to get this picture of the Giant's Causeway. I don't think I have ever been there when I was the only one around. A semi-lockdown has some benefits.
The Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. It is located in County Antrim on the north coast of Northern Ireland, about 5 kilometers (5 miles) northeast of the town of Bushmills. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986.
Early morning long exposure of the magnificent Island of Gatztelugatxe in Northern Spain.
Used as the setting for "Dragonstone" in the HBO Series "Game of Thrones", the long causeway and 241 steps lead up to the little Chapel of San Juan. The hermitage dates back to the 10th Century and was once sacked by non other than Francis Drake in 1593.
I'm hoping to get back there sometime and get a sunset shot, the setting is that good!
