Never to late to get up.... ;)
Reload your happiness.

Causalidad

ogni cosa attorno
ha l'odore inalterato dell'assenza.
è ciò che accade quando
i contorni di un ricordo
si sgretolano in frammenti infinitesimali.
in realtà tutto rimane com'era,
in quell'istante,

Like a warm gentle breeze blowing over the flower meadow. It is enough if I think of you. You enchant everything. Like a wave that sweeps me gently and breaks my will. A glance is enough and the laws of nature are suspended. Your gentle voice moves mountains. Your grace makes everything melt like snowflakes. A deep lake in your dark eyes. Rain is raining from the bottom up. Rainbows with steps to the clouds. A star in the sky that only shines for you. I give it to you and the place in my heart.

The other German-language trivial names exist or existed for the chess flower: Fritillariablum, Kiewitsei (Unterweser), Kiwitzei, Kukukstulpe (Pomeranian) and Perlhuhntulpe (Pomeranian).
The checkered flower is highly endangered in Germany and is considered to be particularly protected in the individual federal states according to the Federal Species Protection Ordinance (BArtSchV) as well as in Austria. In 1993 she was chosen as flower of the year. It is mainly threatened by the destruction of its natural habitats in damp and wet meadows, alluvial forests and flood plains of rivers (river floodplains). Furthermore, the persistent eutrophication of the soil through fertilizers has a causal effect on stocks. In Austria, the chess flower is considered to be in danger of extinction. It has been fully protected in Switzerland since 2000.

I am used to seeing dead Kangaroos by the side of the road. I see them most days around where I live. However, I don't see too many dead Koalas but on this trip to Portland, I saw so many. Now I know why. They are so vulnerable on the ground to predators but in particular, cars and spend most of their time in Eucalypt trees where they are safe.
We came around the bend to find this fellow in the middle of the road. He was in no hurry to move on so we parked the car to alert on-coming drivers. He stared at me for quite a time, then causally walked off the road into the adjacent bush.

Birds are enjoying or more likely not enjoying the snow. Seems like we are experiencing a never ending snowstorm here in the Yakima Valley, Washington. The birds seem happy that I am feeding them but I may have to leave the causal life of retirement and get a job so that I can afford the feed. Fortunately I was lucky to get some free birdseed and suet from a friend. I think the Sharp-shinned hawk is happy that I am feeding birds but he/she doesn't seem to want suet or seed. She wants meat. I wish she would limit her diet to starlings and House Sparrows. IMG_4044
It's wonderful to see a pair of Greenfinch's in my garden, sadly they have become a rare visitor since the outbreak of a disease called "Trichomonosis"
Trichomonosis is the name given to a disease caused by the protozoan parasite Trichomonas gallinae. It has been recorded in a number of garden bird species and is widely acknowledged to be the causal factor in the rapid decline of the British Greenfinch population that was first noted in late summer 2006. The disease is also known as ‘canker’ when seen in pigeons and doves, and as ‘frounce’ when seen in birds of prey. It has been known as a disease of cage birds for some time.

Waves are so wonderful. If I had the sea near by my side it would be another passion from me to photograph waves in all their beauty. They are so emotional as humans, so merciless, wild, but also gentle, smooth and sweet. What a passion and luck to live at the sea!

This is a shot from a small art fair we walked through last Saturday. I spotted these interesting wheel art pieces and thought they would represent an interesting photograph.
As I aimed my camera, the artist asked me a question I get often and maybe you do too: "Who are you taking pictures for?" The female artist seemed in a good mood so I causally replied " For the Guggenheim Museum in New York City." She was quick and fired back "Yeah, and I am Henri Matisse's great-granddaughter. Gotcha!!!" We both laughed.

two days ago i was outside reading. it was so warm and mild
that i fell asleep and that day lingered into a beautiful
clear night. the next morning i bundled up, went for a walk and made this image - today it’s kinda in between
it feels like the weather has been mirroring my psychic state.
i recall being around 7 years old and wishing that i wouldn’t have
to go to my uncle’s house for the summer and then he got hit
by a bus.
i also remember reading carl jung’s work about “a-causal” relationships.
i found it simultaneously compelling but hard to understand - back then I
had a job working for a lumber company cutting ski runs above lake tahoe -
I’d go to the casinos at night but no matter what I thought about I never
won any money
it begins with an open half-shell, which is covered here and slowly goes over to the hewn natural product in order to then continue to abstract this form, turning into a cultural product again.
Depending on the viewing angle, each mirrored sculpture takes on the form of the neighboring sculpture in the outer contours.
Art meets an expansion joint in the concrete and a round lid to cover a technology shaft ... I particularly liked this encounter with the banal everyday life ...

The anticipatory stance claims that our minds’ exceptional capacity for thought is not due either to a blind reshuffling of primeval atoms nor to their belonging to a timeless nonmaterial world but to the arrival of meaning, goodness, and truth from up ahead.
… The anticipatory stance locates the phenomenon of thought at the forward edge of a temporal universe that over the long haul has been awakening—not without the drama caused by chance, setbacks, and long periods of silence—to fuller being and deeper meaning up ahead in the sphere of the not-yet…
… Thought, from one point of view, is the outcome of a causally continuous physical process, but from another—equally legitimate—point of view it is part of the universe’s dramatic awakening to incorruptible meaning, truth, goodness, and beauty.

Magpie - Pica Pica......
The Eurasian magpie or common magpie (Pica pica) is a resident breeding bird throughout northern part of Eurasian continent. It is one of several birds in the crow family designated magpies, and belongs to the Holarctic radiation of "monochrome" magpies. In Europe, "magpie" is used by English speakers as a synonym for the European magpie: the only other magpie in Europe is the Iberian magpie (Cyanopica cooki), which is limited to the Iberian Peninsula.
The Eurasian magpie is one of the most intelligent birds, and it is believed to be one of the most intelligent of all non-human animals. The expansion of its nidopallium is approximately the same in its relative size as the brain of chimpanzees, orangutans and humans.
Magpies were originally known as simply "pies". This comes from a proto-Indoeuropean root meaning "pointed", in reference to either the beak or the tail. The prefix "mag" dates from the 16th century and comes from the short form of the given name Margaret, which was once used to mean women in general (as Joe or Jack is used for men today); the pie's call was considered to sound like the idle chattering of a woman, and so it came to be called the "Mag pie". "Pie" as a term for the bird dates to the 13th century, and the word "pied", first recorded in 1552, became applied to other birds that resembled the magpie in having black-and-white plumage.
The range of the magpie extends across temperate Eurasia from Spain and Ireland in the west to the Kamchatka Peninsula. The species has been introduced in Japan on the island of Kyushu.
The preferred habit is open countryside with scattered trees and magpies are normally absent from treeless areas and dense forests. They sometimes breed at high densities in suburban settings such as parks and gardens. They can often be found close to the centre of cities.
Magpies are normally sedentary and spend winters close to their nesting territories but birds living near the northern limit of their range in Sweden, Finland and Russia can move south in harsh weather.
A study conducted near Sheffield in Britain, using birds with coloured rings on their legs, found that only 22% of fledglings survived their first year. For subsequent years, the survival rate for the adult birds was 69%, implying that for those birds that survive the first year, the average total lifespan was 3.7 years. The maximum age recorded for a magpie is 21 years and 8 months for a bird from near Coventry in England that was ringed in 1925 and shot in 1947.
The Eurasian magpie is believed not only to be among the most intelligent of birds but among the most intelligent of all animals. Along with the jackdaw, the Eurasian magpie's nidopallium is approximately the same relative size as those in chimpanzees and humans, significantly larger than the gibbon's. Like other corvids, such as ravens and crows, their total brain-to-body mass ratio is equal to most great apes and cetaceans. A 2004 review suggests that the intelligence of the corvid family to which the Eurasian magpie belongs is equivalent to that of great apes (chimpanzees, orangutans, and gorillas) in terms of social cognition, causal reasoning, flexibility, imagination and prospection.
Magpies have been observed engaging in elaborate social rituals, possibly including the expression of grief. Mirror self-recognition has been demonstrated in European magpies, making them one of only a few species to possess this capability. The cognitive abilities of the Eurasian magpie are regarded as evidence that intelligence evolved independently in both corvids and primates. This is indicated by tool use, an ability to hide and store food across seasons, episodic memory, using their own experience to predict the behavior of conspecifics. Another behaviour exhibiting intelligence is cutting their food in correctly sized proportions for the size of their young. In captivity, magpies have been observed counting up to get food, imitating human voices, and regularly using tools to clean their own cages.[citation needed] In the wild, they organise themselves into gangs and use complex strategies hunting other birds and when confronted by predators.
In Europe, magpies have been historically demonized by humans, mainly as a result of superstition and myth. The bird has found itself in this situation mainly by association, says Steve Roud: Large blackbirds, like crows and ravens, are viewed as evil in British folklore and white birds are viewed as good". In European folklore, the magpie is associated with a number of superstitions surrounding its reputation as an omen of ill fortune. In the 19th century book, A Guide to the Scientific Knowledge of Things Familiar, a proverb concerning magpies is recited: A single magpie in spring, foul weather will bring The book further explains that this superstition arises from the habits of pairs of magpies to forage together only when the weather is fine. In Scotland, a magpie near the window of the house is said to foretell death. An English tradition holds that a single magpie be greeted with a salutation in order to ward off the bad luck it may bring. A greeting might take the form of saying the words ‘Good morning, Mr Magpie, how are Mrs Magpie and all the other little magpies?’

Saludos.
