Actually, it's a bracelet. But at her diminutive size, it works as a necklace. She thinks it's made of crystal glass beads. It is actually plastic beads made from recycled plastic that littered beaches all over the world. That's beautiful to me!

Startled at first to see her own image, she then paused and reflected on her own reflection, deciding, "This is a very fine reflection of a cat!".

The Japanese cat figurine maneki-neko (beckoning cat) is often believed to bring good luck to the owner. The figurine depicts a cat, traditionally a calico Japanese Bobtail, with a paw raised in a beckoning gesture.

I know I've mentioned this before, but Pokey gets frequent bouts of gastritis, that can become so bad that we've ended up at the Emergency Vet numerous times. No one knows for certain what causes it, but I think that stress/anxiety sometimes causes it. Over the past few days I've noticed signs it may be happening again. We were doing a lot of cooking this week, and believe it or not, Pokey recognizes when we are cooking, and he gets anxious because he assumes the smoke detector is going to go off. (No, I'm not a bad cook that burns everything - we just have an overly sensitive smoke detector.) and the noise of the alarm scares Pokey to death. So today, I bought him a Thunder Shirt, hoping that it may help with his anxiety. Honestly, it does not seem to be helping. This is Pokey, hiding in our guest room (he likes it there because it's the quietest room in the house.) but he looks guilty because he knows that he is not allowed on that bed.
Some trivia about this photo: 1) I bought that bed at a used furniture store back in Indiana. The paint was worn when I got it, which I liked because it looked "shabby chic" but Carl surprised me one day by painting it (he thought I would be happy about that). The sad part is that this was a "homemade" bed and the person who had made it, signed his name on the back of the headboard, but Carl painted over it. :( It's an odd bed - somewhere in between a twin sized and full sized bed, so I actually had to have a mattress specially made for it.
2) I made the little cat figurine that is on the bedside table, in school, when I was about 12 or 13 years old.

The Cat House, in Riga's Old Town, was built in 1909 and is styled as medieval architecture with some elements of Art Nouveau. It is known for the two angry cat sculptures, with arched backs and raised tails, on the tops of the turrets on its roof. It is said that the owner of the house wanted the cats to be placed with their tails turned towards either - depending on the different legends - the Riga Tradesmen's Guild (aka the Great Guild) or the old Riga Town Hall, both of which were nearby, as a gesture of anger for disputes.
Cat House Cat is 2.0 in. wide x 2.5 in. high. Brought back from Riga in 2012.

"How do you feel when looking at this Sad Cat?" This question introduced me to a new facet of Chinese culture that is centuries old. This is a Purple Clay Tea Pet. Cultivating and nursing a Tea Pet is a Culture in Chinese tea ceremonies. Pouring hot tea over the Tea Pet is done as a caring act to bring happiness to the Tea Pet. Over time, the Pet will become more and more shiny, signifying the good care you are giving it. This will bring happiness to the Tea Pet and to the one who takes care of it. It is an ongoing act of nurturing it and oneself. At the site where I purchased this Tea Cat, there is a short video of a woman singing to this Sad Cat as she gently pours hot tea over it. Words of compassion and caring. This cat is also called the Sad/Angry Cat. Whether it is Sad or Angry, the acts of compassion and healing are central to this ritual. And this LONG Face: so sweet and endearing! Quite a profound purpose as well.

Yesterday the sun was shining through the blinds on the center Egyptian cat statue (and its shadow) on a bookcase with the collages of Avatar, Trino and Benji above. I just had to get a few photos of it. Thank you for viewing, faveing and commenting on my images!

My tiny pocket cat that might pop up in photos now and then. Just for fun and as part of my photography practice 😸

I dropped this little cat figurine once and the poor thing lost part of it's ear. Unfortunately I never found the missing piece, so I couldn't glue it back on. This one has also a twin, which is (still) in one piece.
These little cats are a souvenir from Tunisia and are made from limestone, they are the size of a matchbox.
Happy MM everyone!
Cat figurines that we have collected on our trips as souvenirs, because we like cats.
There are a couple of other critters on the shelf, as well as some boats that J's father brought back to her brother as souvenirs from business trips to Hawaii, Alaska and, I think, the Philippines (?) in the 1960s.
Check out individual cats and their lineage in our "Cat Collection" album (many more cats to add as time allows).

I named my little girl kitten for Claudia Cron, a model and actress who was an Estée Lauder spokesmodel, and so it may seem appropriate that Claudia is posing here with an objet d'art in the form of this cat figurine, as Lauder spokesmodels have bene known for posing with objets d'art.
In fact, Claudia Cron was the model for Estée Lauder's Prescriptives brand, and she didn't pose with pieces of art like her contemporaries for the main Lauder brand did. And as beautiful as the models for the main Lauder brand have been, they have nothing on my little girl kitten's cuteness.
This is another photo through my bow window in the living room.
A cute Artesiana Rinconada cat and kitten figurine, which was part of Classic Collection, was introduced in 1994 as #72 "Cats in a Basket."

We had a shipboard credit we needed to spend and nothing in the ship's shops was of interest except for this little fellow. It is actually a hinged box made of enameled metal. Purchased in either 2017 or 2018, or possibly 2019.
