Title: The Jenkins' Orphanage Band at the Tampa Bay Hotel: Tampa, Florida
Date: Between 1900 and 1919
General note: The Jenkins' Orphanage Band traveled up and down the eastern seaboard and to London to raise funds for the Jenkins Orphanage in Charleston, South Carolina. Founded in 1892 by Reverend Daniel Joseph Jenkins, the orphanage was the first in the state to house black children. While many of the children were taught different trades such as printing, shoemaking, tailoring and chair caning, the bands were a training ground for many musicians who later populated some of the most notable jazz bands of this century. 5th from the right with the slide trombone is thought to be "Cat" Anderson, famous high note jazz trumpeter from Duke Ellington's Orchestra.

I am a big fan of fiery percussion music, especially in the world of Latin America. I received this LP yesterday, released in a nice gatefold sleeve, which I love so much more because of the beautiful photos or artwork in it. I also do photography and digital artwork, which is why gatefold versions are more passionate for me.
This album is packed with almighty super latin rhythms at various tempos.
And stay tuned, because Alejandro Acuña (Alex Acuña) and Walfredo De Los Reyes also participated on the album of 'Full Cirlcle', the album I had posted before this one.
This should be in your record collection if you like beautiful percussion work.
